Building a personal niched blog, wanting to monetize it

Hey Warriors

I'm building a personal gaming blog with my minimum journalism skills and consistent exclusive content. Now I know that there's probably only 5 percentage of you that are into gaming, however the blogging concept remains the same. especially when you want to profit from the blog.

I know some of you make a living from blogs (selling products, services, etc) however, with the gaming niche, its more about news, info, tips or etc

I'm looking to build a 12 month plan starting now and even if I make $20 a month at the start you could color me happy.

Any tips or pointers ?

    Hi KloudStrife,

One of my first sites was in this niche and this is what I learned works best for monetizing the gaming niche.
    • Target affiliate sales, not Adsense. The CPC in the gaming niche is incredibly low. For this reason, having interest-based ads on may net you more revenue.
    • Try to tie a product into as many articles that you can - or at least link to another article of yours where you're promoting something. I wasted so much time writing articles that didn't make any money whatsoever, with the exception of the occasional pennies from Adsense. It's not worth your time.
    • Promote pre-orders. You'll be able to find these on Amazon long before the game is out, and they convert well.
    • Promote peripherals. Gamers always want to feel like they have an advantage over their opponents.
    • Build an email list from day one, that way you can sell the next great game/headset/console to the same people over and over again.

Best of luck and if you have any questions, message me!

How do Amazon affiliate links match up to clickbank links? are they more profitable?
see the thing about that is that gaming readers are smart and can sniff affiliate links a mile away. I personally think that affiliate links are poison in this particular niche in which can easily damage your reputation as a valuable gaming blog.

Also, where can I learn 101 on building email lists?

Always provide good content in your blog and be about the visitor.

If you can provide good content , the visitor will follow through and help you make $$$ in exchange.
