Free ebook for signup and also sell it on Kindle?

I finished my ebook I'm going to give for subscribing but then I wanted to also sell it on Kindle for like $1.99. The only thing is, I thought wouldn't someone be upset buying it and then visiting my site and subscribing, only to get the same ebook they just bought? So I thought, why don't I put at the end of the book that if they visit my site and subscribe, I will refund the $1.99. Should I do it, or not worth? Figured I'm giving them an incentive to subscribe and it is my way out of the issue of them seeing me giving it away too. Thoughts?

Congrats on finishing your first ebook. I would not go that road of a refund, why dont you try the subscription way first before kindle and see what sort of response you get.
Also start working on another ebook and use it to sell to your email subscription base and sell that on kindle too? directing that kindle purchase traffic to your subscription site and thus increasing your list.

    Good luck

I would go with using your book to build a list. That list will be much more valuable than the kindle book in the long term. However, you can leave it on kindle. There is someone willing to buy!
    All the best.

There may be an issue directly with Amazon as I read a while back that if you give away your eBook elsewhere, then you have to sell it for free on Amazon as well. I'm not sure if it applies in this case as you have an added step of having to sign up for a membership.

What I would do in your situation is, make another small product and give that away instead. Also make a note at the end of your eBook that signing up at your site will result in a free eBook.

If you enroll your kindle book on KDP select then Amazon does require that you should not distribute is anywhere else.

If you have not enrolled your book on KDP, you can give it away for free especially, if you're still struggling with building your list. You however need to write more books that would bring in the cash. Remember to link your other books to your free book so as to make purchasing your other e books easier for your fans.
    Good luck!

I'm no lawyer, but I think you're going to find that Amazon terms of service preclude that (and needless to say, if they do, then it's definitely inadvisable to try to do it!).

Two different books with different titles, different "virtual covers", different appearance and maybe some overlapping content? Except even then, you might be at risk of 1* reviews at Amazon, if anyone buys and pays for the thing they've already downloaded free of charge? Maybe two different author names, as well, to make that even less likely?
