I've been trying so hard to do this with my blog. I even tried Traffic Exchanges. Nothing worked. It only dropped by some 500K.
How do you do increase it? Thanks, Sumit. |

What is the benefit to you of focusing on this particular number and increasing it?

Hi Sumit,
As the other posters have said, I wouldn't get too worried about your Alexa ranking. What you need to appreciate is the way Alexa actually comes up with these ranks. They do it via the Alexa toolbar which many webmasters install on their browsers. However "normal" (not webmaster/IM types) don't typically use the toolbar. So the figures are typically artificially inflated for web master resources and artificially low for others. For example, I have a niche site that generates 1,000+ uniques per day but has a ranking in the millions. Equally I have IM sites that get less than half that yet have rankings of 200,000 or less. So firstly, what niche is your blog in? For a non-IM niche it can be quite difficult to get your Alexa rankings down. Because of this, the only really useful thing you can glean from Alexa is comparing your own rankings with those of your direct competitors (same niche) to see how you compare to them. And even then the comparison isn't cut and dry. Focus more on getting targetted traffic to your blog rather than your Alexa ranking - it'll be a lot more profitable in the long run. And there are dozens of threads on the forum giving traffic generation advice - just use the search feature if you need some ideas. All the best, Richard |

Alexa ranking goes by the number of pageviews not visits. I wouldn't worry about Alexa. Honestly, it is so far out as far as real traffic numbers. Some of my sites had an Alexa rank of 160k worldwide after about 2 months of being live. Believe me, those sites were not getting a huge amount of traffic per day.
I'd just concentrate on making money and getting as much targeted traffic to your 'optimised' and 'monetzied' sites as poosible. That's all you need to focus on. |

Why would you want to? It amazes me that people still put emphasis on Alexa, especially when thinking of buying a site, because the data reported is so grossly skewed. ![]() After the top thousand or sites that are listed, which are predictably the top sites anyways, the data goes to hell in a hand basket. If I were you, I wouldn't waste any time at all trying to improve the ranking. You're just spinning your wheels when you do. Your best measure of how your site is doing, is either your own stats or using Analytics - that will give you the data you need to continually fine tune your traffic generation efforts.

Actually, until your Alexa rank doesn't go up (or down. whatever) Text Link Ads won't show up on your site.
BTW, it's my personal blog where I blog about IM and Social Networking occasionally. Thanks, guys. I appreciate the help. Sumit. |
