Market research question...

Hey folks...

This is my first post here, so be gentle.

I am developing a service for a specific industry and I need to do some market research in order to go to the next level.

My question is, how do I insure confidentiality when doing my research? The service is pretty specific, so there is no getting around the facts with generalization.

I only know a handful of the folks I am inviting to do the marketing study, so the vast majority are strangers to me.

I don't want to use a full blown NDA.. I want to keep it simple.

What are some suggestions to assure that I won't wake up tomorrow morning with an email inviting me to subscribe to the same service I am creating?

Thanks again!

I do a lot of my preliminary research using the following:
Google Trends - can tell you about searches and trends (imagine that), but can be location specific as well

Alexa - Actionable Analytics for the Web - and similar type sites. Look up competitors, see their demographics, etc.

Facebook Ads Manager - you don't have to create an ad, but "pretend" to create an ad in order to access all types of information. You can specify what you want in order to get an idea of the market

Google AdWords Express ? Easy online advertising by Google - like Facebook Ads Manager, you don't have to make a real ad, but pretend to...and get a whole bunch of demographic information.

There are several other / similar tools out there...but...that's the general process I go through

Then you're talking about a crap shoot.

It depends on how important it is to protect it.
