I was playing about with my blog today, adding a CDN and other stuff.

I finally got my homepage loading in 1.3 seconds! I'm chuffed!

Here's the proof!



Has anyone else gotten their sites to load in under 1 second? I'd love to know if it was technically possible.

    It's possible...on my blazing fast dedicated box I have seen decent sized WP page loads between .65 and .95 seconds and that's without using CDN services.

        It's a box I lease from Hostdime that's located in an Orlando, Florida NOC. It's nothing super spectacular but it does the job.

        It's a Xeon Quad-Core E3-1230 v2 3.3Ghz w/HT (That processor gets a Passmark score of 8861). I have the sites on an SSD drive but the DBs are still on old fashioned drives. If the main drives were SSD the sites would be even quicker. FWIW I don't have a ton of RAM in the box either, just 8GB.

          That sounds alot like my GSA VPN minus a bit of ram (I think I have 6Gb)

          Still, a decent setup though.

            Yeah, I have a 24/7 fully managed setup with a pair of 1000GB enterprise drives and a 120GB enterprise SSD drive, a 1000 Megabit (GigE) Uplink and 10TB of monthly bandwidth with automatic daily and weekly backups. I've been with these guys since 2002 and I currently lease a pair of their dedicated servers. I started on a shared server back in '02, tried a VPN in '05 for less than 24 hours, and have been on a dedicated box ever since. I also have a couple of Hostgator shared accounts but I don't use them for much.
