$25K marketing budet, Launching new software product, need marketing ideas

Hello,

We are going to launch a new membership software product next month and I am looking for some ideas from fellow warriors. What are some of best and most effective marketing campaigns.

Our budget for initial launch is $25K and we want to spend it wisely on different but effective channels.

We welcome your suggestions.

    Hi Bobby

I would recommend building a relationship with a select few super affiliates who can drive you buyers traffic to your offer.

also get your product listed on various JV launch calenders with a JV page for them to opt in and offer prize incentives to promote along with swipes and banners

Everything Clarke said is a good idea, but I'd also suggest using Facebook ads. They give you a lot of control, and being able to target your demographic is very important.

I recommend you do a product launch and then add retargeting ads to promote to those you do not join on their first visit.

You can try working with CPA networks like peerfly or maxbounty. These networks can guarantee that you get great quality traffic and conversions. They also keep an eye on their publishers to make sure that you will not receive poor quality conversions.

Since you are entering a market where there are already excellent solutions, I think you're going to have to focus on specific audiences that will identify with the benefits that you offer that others don't.

How is your product different? What does it do that other membership software solutions don't? In what ways does your product stand out and rise above other solutions? Identify these key points then market to specific potential users that will find these points important to their needs.

You talked about spending your marketing budget "wisely on different but effective channels."

To my way of thinking, you should not be focused on the channels - they are only means of delivering your message. I would be more concerned about focusing on the proper audiences, i.e. finding prospects for your product that will benefit most from what you offer. Find the demand.

Once you can identify those who desperately want what you offer, then you can easily assess the best channels that will reach those prospects. I hope you understand what I'm saying . . . how you reach your prime audience is not as important as identifying who those people are.

If your message doesn't resonate with your targeted market, the channel you use to reach them is not going to matter.

Here's a tip . . . get a copy of Jeff Walker's paperback book Launch and study it before you roll out your campaign.

        Good luck to you,

        Steve

Clarke is right on - get it bed with the heavy hitters - give 'em a sweet piece of the pie (commission) and let them handle promoting it to their lists.

If you want to do it yourself, I might recommend the following, though it's not something you can just roll out overnight (or even just throw money at):

    1. Establish your authority in the subject matter - specifically for the problem/task your software helps address. A blog, forums, social media: you're going to want to use all of this.

    2. Get the buzz going with some free sneak peeks, and possibly dangle the offer of being a 'free beta tester' out there to those who pick up on your threads.

    3. Start building a 'list' (MailChimp, iContact, etc) - as in a 'newsletter subscriber base' - by setting up a landing page on your website with a newsletter signup form. Keep your newsletter subscribers updated on the progress of your project: share teasers, screenshots, and the possibility of becoming a free beta-tester.

    4. As for that free beta-test: give it away to some of those influential blogger/affiliates mentioned by Clarke - their feedback is invaluable and if they like it, they will sell it.

    5. Get your sales launch strategy down: Jeff Walker's book mentioned by Steve B is a great resource. Some idaes on that:
    - build anticipation: use that list, and write blog articles that point out why your product is the magic bullet to all of life's problems - get people excited about the release so on the day you launch people are begging you to take their money and deliver your software.
    - make the initial offering 'limited to 500 buyers" or some kind of special pricing for the first week: exclusivity sells.
    - "sell the sizzle, not the steak" : focus on the 'sexy' elements of why your product is going to save my life, make me rich, and get me laid: not the mundane of what it's made of and how it works.

    6. Be prepared to react and field customer service/complaint/feedback requests once you launch: make your customers feel like their part of helping improve the product rather than victims of an unsupported mess. (I sold hundreds of crappy Chinese Android tablets - and people loved them despite their complaints simply because I encouraged feedback and helped them troubleshoot their devices - which incredibly, made them get their friends to buy them and give the products better reviews than they probably deserved!).

Seems a little late to be learning this step. You should have had your marketing plan in motion at least a couple months ago.

Laser targeted PPC would be my suggestion. The platform would depend on the nature of your product. I personally don't use FB ads any more but they might be right for you.

You might consider pushing your launch back a month to get your marketing ducks in a row.
