Do you use craigslist?

I read an article that someone used craigslist for the first time and advertised their blog and got 1k visits in approximatly 3 hours after the post was live. Do you think this is true? Do you use craigslist for free traffic or to promote your products?

Why post when you can just read craigslist?

I am just looking for opinions on craigslist and if anyone has had success using it.

I used Craiglist to buy and sell items. To me it's an online Garage Sale.
Craiglist can also be used for link building your site. Personally I never researched how many people actually visit a website that was promoted on Craiglist. It would be interesting to hear more about this.

I use it to advertise locally. Since I do consulting it's a
great place to advertise, because given their choice
for an IM consultant most business owners would prefer
to hire somebody they can meet face-to-face.

That being said, there is a lot of competition on Craigslist
so your advertising should be good or your prices super-cheap.
I prefer to make money with my business so I make
sure I have good ads that stand-out from the crowd.

As far as blog traffic, you could get a lot with an X-rated
blog by posting in the Adult section of CL - the more weird
or gross you advertised your blog as the more traffic
you would be likely to get.

You have to put Craigslist traffic in context to what kind
of business you want to run. Getting traffic for dumb stuff
is pretty easy - getting traffic you can make money with
    is different.
