Does Ebay No Longer Allow Ebooks To Be Sold If Delivered on CD? Today I went to list an ebook for sale on Ebay. I listed it in the Everthing Else > Information Products > Other category. I even stated in the listing that it would be delivered on CD. This is what an Ebay representative I spoke with previously said I needed say in the listing. I click the button to complete my listing and receive an error message that says: ================================================== "You can not submit your listing due to the following problems" You might be listing your item in the wrong category. Before completing this step, be sure to: Use the Classified Ad format List your item in the Everything Else > Information Products category ================================================== = After I received the error message the Ebay listing system didn't let me go any further, so now I can't list the item. I spoke with an Ebay representative and she then went to ask a more senior person. When she returned I was then told that I could not list an ebook unless it was listed in the "Classifieds" section even if I was going to mail it to the customer on CD. Has anyone else encountered this challenge? Any idea how to correct it other than selling it in the classified ads section? Thank you for your input. All The Very Best, Tony |

Here is what I've done that you can give a shot: Make audio or video recordings showing what you talk about in the ebook already anyways, so that what you don't have to be forced under classified (not considered ebook if it's a series of "training videos or audios" get it?) better yet, advertise the video/audio and add a bonus ebook/pdf with the purchase. Video's or audios are considered tangible audios where's ebook on cd is more like an "alternative". We tend to treat vids/audios with more respect than ebooks, atleast that is the perception. Second choice: If your ebook isn't very long, offer the product as a PHYSICAL product instead already printed out for the customer. No longer an ebook. The value is raised significantly because it's a physical product and has to be mailed. Unfortunately, you can't really "get around" the inevitable. I ran into this problem as well. I wanted to sell an actual physical product (set of seminar tapes) in the Everthing Else > Information Products > Other category, and eBay wouldn't let me do it, except through a classified ad. I tried to explain to the support person that my item was not at all downloadable and I shouldn't have to use a $9.95 ad to sell one $20 item. Finally I gave up and listed it in a different category (I think it was audio books). Problem solved. So the short answer is pick another category to list in. Since most people will find your item through keyword searches, the listing category doesn't really matter that much. |

Same thing happened to me.I was selling the 30 videos on IM.I even made the title say[30 videos, how to build a website, delivered on CD].Something to this effect. Then in the first line of text i put in that this is a physical product,it will be shipped by USPS media mail. Wouldnt let me do any of it.I talked to ebay and they said i could do it,but iut still wouldnt. So i put it on as a classified ad,didnt know what i was doing.I didnt know how to send the customers to a download page or opt in page. So i put my email addy and phone number in and watched it sit for 30 days with no activity. So,i have to buy an ebook[maybe on ebay]that tells me how to sell an ebook on ebay. Well,i guess i need another shovel! |

You should try to find some way around it, because eBay is a great source for traffic as people go there with the 'buying' mindset. Classified Ads are terrible because they don't let you list them in proper categories, and they penalize them in the Featured Listing Rankings which really hurts sales. Turing the product into audio or video as mentioned sounds good.
