? about marketing with social networks

I did a search on this but my actual question wasn't answered.

When you have multiple niche sites, businesses, etc. and you use social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Digg, etc. do you use one account under your name or do you have multiple accounts (or Facebook pages) for each of your niche sites or items you promote?

I'm asking because I don't necessarily want clients or customers to friend me on my personal Facebook account but I did set up a page for one of my businesses and I wouldn't mind if they friended me there or followed me on Twitter. So how is that handled when you have a lot of different niches and businesses and you don't want them comingled?

I don't think they will allow you to have multiple accounts and will recognize it coming from the same Ip address. Those social sites that you mention is not totally for advertising but for opinion sharing.Unless, you will subscribe to their advertising ads.

I have a personal Facebook page with friends from school, family, etc. but I have a page for my business. It does tell you not to set up a profile for that page if it's a business so I didn't do that. One woman I know has 3 Facebook accounts. One under her personal name and two pages under her two business nicknames, so it can be done. I'm just concerned about making a post on Facebook or Twitter and how can clients / customers differentiate between different niches, especially when they are unrelated.
