probably the smartest thing I have read on teh forum today.

have a really hot steaming shower and write this on the glass with finger! Bang it into your head. Having an email list, is the single most biggest way to make money each and every day.

Don't focus on tactics until you have some strategy.

I would advise to NOT look for opportunities, but to think about a real business.

That's the best advice I can ever give...

Where do people get this stuff from (and why do they repeat it)?!

There are several established, perfectly reasonable ways of building a list without a blog.

you can use a squeeze page
you can use a page hosted for you by your autoresponder company
you can use a static website that isn't a blog

you can use a page hosted for you by your autoresponder company
you can use a static website that isn't a blog
you can use an opt-in service that provides opt-in pages for people who don't have blogs
you can use an email-receipt-automated system (Aweber and others offer this)
etc.

I think you are saying where and how to build an email list, you are right, you have got the point. but we are looking for the best way, is it in a blog or any where?

I am sorry if I have said that I forgot to type the question mark.... and English is my 2nd language...

I think the blog is the home in all of the strategies of where and how to build an email list. All have agreed to that. It is the blog that you can bring or lead the people to see what you are selling and it is the best way. Do you agree?

  First, realize that the purpose of any business is to deliver something that you clients want, information, toothpicks, SEO services, etc...
  
  You can get an idea as to what people want with the adwords keyword tool. I suggest signing up there (for free), you will need a credit card but just turn off any keywords they force you into getting.
  
  You can see with this tool how many times a month that people are searching for particular terms and it will suggest others. The idea is to find a "niche" or subject to build your business on that has traffic.
  
  Once you have an idea I suggest that you see if anyone is buying in your market. For products you can look at sold items on Ebay and see if there are a lot of closed sold items, services you can take some of the keywords and see if anyone is paying to advertise them on Google. Terapeaks is a good paid service to look at sold auctions on Ebay.
  
  This is one way to begin to build up a business, you can also try to build around a demographic and that demographics interest but that is more complex.

  I think if you have an static website that would be okay, perhaps a blog is the best where you will lead the people in your list of what you are selling or promoting, and in the blog you can maintain a relationship to some in your email list by giving them new information/articles and they can also give their comments. Please tell me what is your another idea rather than a blog?

Like everyone else. Email list is the way to go! But it's actually not that simple like it seems.

These are the topics you need to spend time studying.

1. Building high converting squeeze pages.
2. Generate Traffic
3. Promote affiliate offers or your own products
4. Build relationships with yoru list

Now that is JUST a very simple breakdown of the core elements you need to do more research in. Each one of them requires HARD WORK to master so please take your time studying them.

This is a video by Frank Kern a well known internet marketer. Watch it and use it as a foundation.

I agree with these 4 points and its how I am building a long term business online. I also have a blog as I think it is the best way to personally brand yourself, promote your own ideas, and create your own content, as well as using it to build an email list. But in the end, the OP still asked about making money. In order to do that, you have to sell something, as in point #3 in the list above. You can build a list and never sell anything. So you're going to have to find an offer to promote to an audience and that audience should be targeted in your blog as well.

Focus on a specific type of audience.
Build a following/fanbase by offering quality content
Use articles, facebook, youtube, twitter, blogs etc to get your content out.
Email marketing
Useful/helpful products
Customer care.
Be real. Be you. Stand out.

I agree with all the comments regarding your focus should be on building a list and I would advise having your own self hosted website/blog/squeeze page rather than rely on a third party as you won't own it.

Software as a service (SaaS) is one of the most lucrative businesses you can create for long term leads and sales. Simply find a service that people need and build it. Then charge a subscription fee for your service. If it's really a good service, people will use it and you will benefit from your great ideas.

I like to use Freelancer for all my outsourcing when it comes to SaaS platform programming. I like the fact they have escrow which protects me from being ripped off my unscrupulous programmers and it holds them accountable to finish your project since they are rated on it.

Never attempt to build any SaaS platform without using escrow or you will most likely lose all your money. After 10 years of marketing I've found that SaaS platforms are some of the most highly sought after businesses for long term growth and also many corporations buy SaaS platforms as part of their investment strategy, so you really can't lose if you build something high quality and in demand.

You need to build a list. I don't care if its a followers list, a telephone list, or an email list. As long as you have a collection people you can sell to repeatedly you can build residuals.

Also you can create your own products for longevity such as:

a membership site
a coaching program
a consulting firm
an academy program

My best advice is to build a cell phone list, not an email list. Texting is the way marketing is moving and it will be here for the long term. Most people respond to a text message within minutes. Often they won't even see an email much less respond to it. But you have to have something of high quality to offer.

Im an offline marketing enthusiast. I would say that you don't need to be so original but to find out what people are already buying. Then offer the same or better quality and/or additional services. Also whatever you do, one of your products should have a recurring monthly income.

The best way is to build a business that doesn't rely 100% on Google for traffic. No matter the kind of business you build or how ingenious your idea is, your business can never be a long-term business when it's 100% reliant on Google for traffic and subsequent sales.
