I thought I was being clever using Test your web design in different browsers - Browsershots to test my order page in various browsers Turns out in reality, XP+IE6 breaks my order page ![]() No idea why, but it does this funky thing http://mindseyeproductions.ca/client...screenshot.jpg Obviously I am going to get some designers advice on how to fix it, but it does raise the question, how far should I go with testing when it seems the automated tests are not 100% reliable? |

It seems you truly need to put yourself in your customers position. I mean, it's not really that much extra work anyhow. Am I right? |

![]() Do you do your own browser testing? Might be an idea as a WSO, someone could make decent money doing design testing and trouble-shooting ![]() I think this might be a good justification for outsourcing to a proper designer, who has the time?

I check my sites with Netscape 7, Safari, FireFox, Opera for Mac ... Then I go to my Intel Mac and check under winblows on Netscape 7 & 8, IE 6 and 7, Safari, FireFox for WinblowsXP. IE has serious issues when it comes to simple HTML and can not handle alot of sites but what else do you expect from Bill Gates. I have all these browsers installed, I do my own testing... Chris if you need any help .. PM me, I am a developer ![]() James |

The safest way to increase your customer satisfaction is to check your stats and see what kind of browser your customers / visitors are using, if you maybe notice / find out that none of them use IE6, then leave it be.. But if you have like 20% who does use IE6 then you`ll probably getting allot of mad visitors who cannot read your entire site. A designer who programmed your site should always test in (IE6/7/8, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Google Chrome). You should look professional no matter what and a broken page is NOT the best way to present your site, if it`s only a Blog or especially a product selling website. Good luck!

personally i only check with firefox and IE, because those are the two most commonly used browsers IE in fact is what generally most users will use to view your site, so you should consider that heavily but on a few sites of mine, I can always get stuff to work in firefox but always have the hardest time getting things to work in IE |
