Since I'm home alone ( except for my beloved WF family ) during the day, I listen to music all the time, unless I'm viewing a how to video etc. It's always turned down very low so that I can hear it but it doesn't overwhelm my mind when I'm doing online tasks. Does it help you or distract you? TL |

Very good question, I would love to know. I also listen to music, but I don't know if it helps me |

Music absolutely helps me stay focused, particularly when I'm doing repetitive tasks. The creative part of my brain that would constantly be coming up with ideas to distract me is involved in the music, and I can work quickly and effeciently until the tasks are done! |

I find it distracts me and I'm less productive although I've worked with many people who claim it helps them. I find I'm very focused and happy to work with a quiet background, which ends when school is over! |

Music I know and love is fine. If it is new music then I have to listen to it. Kenj |

I often have music running in the background while I'm working and I DO think it helps my productivity. But it depends on the task I'm doing. If I'm doing repetitive, "non-thinking" work, I can listen to music. If I'm working on something that requires a lot of concentration and thinking, then I either turn it waaaay down or turn it off. Also, I make sure to listen to the soft, "easy listening" music playlist in my iTunes and not my "Dance" playlist! Otherwise, I end up jamming and not working! :P So it varies, but yes, I DO listen to music while I'm working. Michelle |

most of the time, it distracts me...so i try to turn it off while doing work... but sometimes, it does pump me up...but again most of the time, i think it's better just focused on your work without any distractions... if you work at home, try going to your local library...it helps A LOT to stay focused & be more productive... |

I only listen to music without lyrics like soundscape type music. This is what I used to write 2 books and edit them too. Without it I would have went crazy.
