You can use any text editor you like (Word, Wordpad, etc) and then convert them to PDF using Cute PDF Writer. If you have professional version of Acrobat Reader you can use that as well. If you have Office 2007 there is option to save file in pdf format as well

Open Office is the best I've found by far.

Once you know how to set it up you can quickly churn out ebooks which look as though they have been composed by a professional. Templates also mean that each ebook you produce can look like all the others you created if you want which could enhance value.

The advantage of using a Word Processor, like this, which can also create a pdf is that you can concentrate on getting the visuals right. That is going to be the first thing that your customer sees.

Using a text editor and a separate pdf creator does the job but will not help you if the pdf looks second rate.

Guys,

Open Office has built in option to "no right click" and "no copy"?

I have a Mac, and I use Microsoft Office for Mac 2007. Word has an option to save as PDF.

I use MS office and there is an addon that lets word directly save files as PDF. Works well for me

I've been using openoffice writer for years to create my ebooks and I think it works great.

You can add borders to your pdf as well as secure them and the program is 100% free

You can download the program openoffice.org. It's a huge download so it will take some time to download and install.

I've been using Word for years, when I wrote books for a Danish publishing house. They told me that I had to.

Since I left them, I've been using Open Office. Not as buggy. Far easier to work with. And it's easy both on a Mac and a PC to save as PDF.

I have Adobe Acrobat as well as Microsoft Office 2008, but I still prefer to use Open Office.

For novels, I work with Scribener. Very cool Mac app, if you're writing novels.
