Limited time - reasonable return?

Hey guys,

I've been interested in IM for quite a while and I've been on and off (mostly off TBH) this forum for the past 3 years. I've read a lot about IM and in 99% of the cases people say you have to put in a lot of time. Unfortunately I don't have that much time but I am in need of money. However - I understand that there's no quick way. But I'm willing to put in the time that I have to sometime in the future start earning a couple of extra bucks every month.

So my questions is;
  1. Can I spend 2 hours a day on IM and get a reasoanble return off of it? I'm talking about maybe $300-800 a month.
  2. If so, what kind of IM would be ideal for my situation?
  3. Is it possible to do IM using only a iPad?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Stefan

    Hi StefanF!

If you do not have the time then you could outsource a lot of the functions that you need to do to other people for example on fiverr.com . If you are however too busy but also do not have money then you are a bit stuck.

Do you really not have time? What are you doing @ 2 am in the morning? When I started out I worked from 8 pm until 6 am the next day. Saw MANY sunrises. (most was until about 2 - 3 am). It depends on how bad do you want it? Are you willing to sacrifice sleep / party / social / tv / family time to get what you want?

After doing this for a couple of months I made my first $300 in my third month. Your experience may be different, but the only real advice I can give you is just start doing it. Everyone's experience is going to be different based on their own skill set that they bring to the party. Do you know how to build websites? Then you have a jump start on me. (mind you back when I stared cms's did not exist, you had to build websites with frontpage) so even if you don't know how to build a website, today there are so many tools to do it that it is not even a factor anymore.

So bring your skillset and apply it and you will see for yourself how quickly it takes, it is impossible for anyone else to tell you how long it takes to see results as we do not know you and what you are capable of and our experiences are different.

Thanks for the quick reply origin.

I've thought of doing some outsourcing through fiverr to give me some more time to do other things.

I feel that 2 hours a day is what I can put down on it at this moment. I work fulltime from 9AM to 5:30PM. Beofre work I work out and after work I spend a lot of time in my music studio producing music for artists. I'm already sacrificing sleep, party and other things to do what I do these days so 2 hour a day is what I can do right now.

I can make homepages, I've done graphic design for over 10 years. I've got equipment such as a DSLR to record good quality video if needed and I've got my music studio to make music, record dialog or anything else that would be needed.

So I think that I have a pretty good starting point. I just don't know how to put everything into motion.

      Thanks again for your answer!

      Best regards,
      Stefan

        Stefan!

Yes, sounds like you have a jump start already! The easiest place to start is to offer a service based on the skills you have already. But offering a service is going to put more constraints on your time. So I would look at automating some process.

If you can create a sales funnel of some sorts that once you have put the time into creating it, it takes care of itself. You only need to spend time to drive traffic to it and it takes care of the rest. You can create such a sales funnel with affiliate marketing, meaning you can free yourself from product creation and delivery, customer support etc. Get people on a list and recommend affiliate programs to them in the niche you are in.

If # 1 you take the time that you do have and spend that on building a list then you are going to get the best for your time spent.

It sure does feel like the sales funnel would be the way to go. Create what needs to be created (I gues this is a website?), drive traffic to it and then just let it work for it self. I will research that option more and I will seek out the best options to get people on a list!

Thanks for your thoughts and advise!

The "easiest" road might not always be the best road to take, especially in business. That's because if it's too easy, competition can be really steep and you're going to need an edge. Profits might seem to stream in, but they are being competed away either over time or through rivals. It's the concept of "entry barriers".

Don't use the word "IM" because it doesn't make any sense. Instead, pick up a book on real marketing, and then figure out how to use the Internet to achieve these marketing principles (I talk about that in my sig).

It's perfectly possible to earn a lot of money in various niches. Sure, you might not earn over a million dollars per month if the market is not big enough, but surely that's more than enough? A decent market can bring you a lot of profits, especially in the backend funnels.
