I really need your help. It has been 2 years since I stopped blogging. I was so desperate when my blog was hacked, so I decided to let my domain expired. Upon checking my account lately in amazon, google adsense, chitika, and infolinks, I realized that there is a bright future in blogging if my blog will continue earning. ( I did not reach the pay-out yet when my blog was hacked). I have to start from square one now..

My questions are:
1. Where can I buy a cheap domain name and web hosting? ( Good service with cheap price)
2. How can I prevent the website hacking?

Your replies will be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

I buy all my domains at namecheap.com. They do a fantastic job over there, the domains are cheap and easy to transfer to your hosting account. When it comes to hosting there are plenty of different hosting companies out there but I would recommend Bluehost or Hostgator. Both have good packages and prices.

    Godaddy for domains

To avoid your website being hacked ( as easy ) if you are running WordPress make sure its all up to date , wordpress being the easiest platform to hack as it is open source.

If you got web forms on your website make sure these are from quality trusted companies and not free versions as SQL injection attacks and javascript injections are very common and access patch's through web forms are a common way that databases are breached .

Use complex passwords of symbols, letters and numbers

Also look at adding an SSL certificate otherwise a hacker can user a sniffer to intercept your data

    I hope this helps

    Hi Janron.

Personally, I prefer to register my domain names with my web hosting provider because there's no messing around with name servers and then waiting upto 48 hours (usually sooner) for your domain to be live and visible on the web.

I use D9 Hosting and to protect my site from hackers I use a WordPress plugin called Wordfence. There's a free and a paid version of the plugin. I use the free one, and already, it's saved my site from several attacks. Highly recommended.

    Thanks!
