Here's my advice since you're going to be using a free blogging site. Just Do It! Dont over think, research, study but take action!

I wouldn't suggest you to start from a free blog.
because once you transfer to an invested blog (domain and hosting) you will lose your initial traffic source.

It will also be very hard to brand yourself as an authority. People will see you as a cheap amateur website.

Find a good market angle... hmm, I remember the guy who leveraged Farmville and made a ton of money through his guide. It's all about market entry timing and how you tackle it. Key point is the tips are actionable, followable and supported with proof.

I have had many products in the gaming niche.

It is an awesome niche but you need to keep up with the content and of course the content has to be really good.

The key, in my opinion, with any niche and even more so the gaming niche is to get involved in the community.

For instance build a Youtube channel of yourself playing the game and then keep on adding content linking to a membership or a paid guide.

You can use a free blog i used to but to be honest i would suggest picking up a domain, installing wordpress and then you OWN the content.

You will then need to market the site, adding content, videos and as above getting involved with the community.

    All the best,

    Chris Jones

The gaming niche can be very profitable. Start by setting up a WordPress site or blog, find a micro niche, and do keyword research. Come up with a plan and establish your goals. As your site grows, you'll find new ways to make money and drive traffic.

Don't go the free route. You can read what I have to say on the subject if you like. Bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad idea. That being said, the gaming niche is a fantastic one. I do it myself. If you can't afford to spend much at this stage, I would honestly at least get hosting and a domain. There are free ways for you to get traffic, and if you can make videos this is perfect for the niche.

    A few traffic channel ideas:

    - Videos
    - Gaming Forums
    - Social Networks

games are working for me, and I am newer to marketing. I like that they are mostly under 60 dollars so more people are willing to buy them. Cash in on game releases, like the recent madden 15.

What I have done is that Ive hired an offshore team of mobile game developers. We have decided to develop and deploy 3-4 2D games / month.

I have about 12 games deployed on Appstore and GooglePlay and they've started to make some decent revenue. Make sure you do not ask your offshore developers to make an account for you or it will get closed within a few months. GooglePlay has somewhat of a beef with Asians.

    #1 Don't use a free blog.

#2 Most of the "advice" in this thread is "iffy."

#3 You better know what you are talking about or gamers will rip you to shreds.

#4 Most gaming forums will ban you for being a spamer. Hint: if you are there for any reason besides participating in the discussion, you are a spamer/scamer/low-life scum/etc.

#5 WOW just released a new expansion and they are great times to get in.

#6 Here's the last of my MMORPG sites. It might give you some ideas: Warcraft Guide Center

Invest in a proper website with proper hosting. It will cost you $10 for a domain and $4/month for hosting. Just do it...you spend more on gas, or a pizza, or a porn subscription haha.

A little words of motivation for you.

100% of the shots you don’t take don’t go in.

    Back to the matter:

    I wouldn't use a free blog.

I don't know how you intend to monetize your site, fact is, you need to really know what you are doing. Besides, that niche is very competitive.

If you can't afford a classic site how do you intend to market it.

I built a couple of game sites for my clients and the major problem one of them is having is funds.

One of the site has actually starts yielding income from Peerfly, the other one is monetized with CPA and adsense and yet to fly.

I don't think the game niche is for you at this time.

What types of games are you interested in? Do you like retro/classic games? Are you interested in only Xbox One/360 games? Decide on your niche now before you go any further. No one on a forum can do this job for you.

  • This is a niche that is hugely dominated by the "community factor": YouTube channel subscriptions, fan-driven forums, etc. You gotta master this social aspect of marketing in order to break through into that niche.
