Hi,

I'm soon to launch an mp3 course and selling it via my website using paypal. I'm also considering signing up with ClickBank and sell it this way.

Anybody having any experience with this, and the results they gotten before and after signing up with clickbank?

ClickBank is ok for this. But before you lunch, have you try to reach to music niche blogs/websites and try to get them in this?
Make them a proposition to promote your product after you lunch? Try to get in touch with as many as you can and this will bring you a plus when you lunch if you can get 2-3 websites on your side.

    Clickbank is great...

However I only use them as an affiliate now.

Not a fan of their high rates and 'insta-refund' system.

On the other hand, their affiliate pool is quite large, and can really help you out if you know how to leverage it

    Hi Thomas,

You need to be aware that no serious, pro-affiliate who promotes ClickBank products will choose to promote the product of a vendor who also has another, non-ClickBank sales-page for the same product on his own website. It's effectively a kind of "payment leak", from the affiliate perspective. A fundamental and essential point for prospective ClickBank vendors to appreciate.

There are plenty of affiliates who will promote products in that category, but they're among "the 95% of affiliates who collectively make under 5% of the sales" rather than "the 5% of affiliates who between them bring in over 95% of the sales". In other words, from the vendor's perspective, they're very much "low-probability affiliates".

This important issue's discussed in many threads, here, where you can read all the details.

Here are some "to start off your collection" ...

Can this be a leak for a ClickBank product?

Clickbank used to have one of the highest fees around. Not sure about now though, you might want to check and compare

The main thing about Clickbank is that you can acquire affiliates more easily. What is more important aren't these affiliates but the big-listers. You need to acquire connections by approaching people with big lists or what we'd call "super affiliates".

They have pretty nifty payment systems too... Like installments etc, and that kind of works out all nice. However, when they start having refunds... That's where you're going to find some exploitation, depending on your market.

It really depends on you, it could definitely work. I like having a controlled and closed system so I use Infusionsoft instead.

Agree with Alexa, either go with Clickbank as only payment processor/affiliate program for your product or use someone else...using both is not really an option for most affiliates.

That said, I typically use CB for products in the health & wellness and personal development space where we have our products...with some early momentum and some early hard work (securing partners) you can pull from the affiliate base that CB has.

Alternatively, I do have products outside of CB (membership sites where we use our own merchant account and membership software to manage affiliates and Ejunkie for a few of our ebooks that uses both Paypal and 2CO as payment processors - we do this because we largely have our own affiliate base and program to drive partnerships)

CB is fine, just don't expect instant partners to appear by virtue of using them as a payment method, it still takes hard work (especially in the beginning) to find and form relationships with solid partners.

Thanks, guys. Really appreciate the input. What I think I could do. is to try out direct selling for a little while, and then switch to clickbank completely for a while.

    Cheers,
    Thomas

By the way, to getting affiliates on board, on CB, should I run some sort of ads on CB?

It's one option, but it's one among many.

The underlying idea (of "needing to promote your affiliate opportunity to potential affiliates" rather than of "listing your product and hoping the affiliates will find it on their own") is definitely correct!

There are countless ways of doing that. A search of the Main Marketing Forum here for threads with the word "affiliates" in their titles will bring up a list of 500 threads(!!) in reverse chronological order of their most recent posts, many of which will have titles like "How do I find the best CB affiliates?": a good read through just some of those threads will give you many ideas.

(The search function is a little bit of a dodgepot at the moment, but it repays patience and persistence and it is possible to get it to work! ).

It might be worth a test.

Going through Clickbank to sell your product is the way to go because you then allow others to sell your product for a commission.

This will allow current affiliates to sell your product, which will earn you more commissions.

On the other hand, you can also allow new customers the ability to sign up for your affiliate program after they purchased.

With Paypal, you should have the option to create a trial subscription, such as $1.00 or $10 for the first day/week/month which allows your customer to test out your product to see whether they like it or not or if they don't cancel then they are charged the full price. This might not be available for $1.00 trial offer with Clickbank.
