Anyone who clicks on a link from someone they don't know... ...is asking to get "owned"...or p'wned as we techies like to say. Even if you do know the sender, you shouldn't click on a link unless you're expecting it. Basic stuff. Almost universally ignored. Thanks for letting us know. Steve |

I'm actually worried about my better half falling victim to this, she's normally very careful but I could also see her clicking an 'A Tribute to Michael" (or Farrah) if one landed in her inbox this evening. That's the main reason I keep my development computers on an isolated network - don't want to lose it all because of a video download! Bill

If your business or livelihood depends on the Internet, or your computer, be vary careful. Many of my friends and colleagues and some of my close family send me "amusing" emails. Some of them are. If they have any sort of attachment however, I just delete them. It's just not worth the risk and all of the time and effort to clean up your drives and registry (when that can be done), if you get infected. Just my thoughts, Jeff.

Besides the incoming links via email, malwares are also in mass distribution in the web that can trick browsers.

IMO anyone who infects their computer by carelessly clicking around in emails (or anywhere) gets what they deserve. I mean, come on people, this isn't 1993 when most of us were on compuserve or maybe AOL and didn't have a clue...seriously. If you don't get it by now, you should be removed from the gene pool. |
