Intriguing observation about Google and the new Warrior Forum

2 replies
I was curious this morning. So I had to look and see. I did a few quick google checks and found interesting information.

First the 'current' PR as of Google's latest update.
www.warriorforum.com = PR 4
The Warrior Forum = PR 2 (old forum front page)
www.warriorforum.com/index.php = PR 0 (new forum front page)
(The new front page probably has more rank than this in Google' s eyes, but they don't release updates with high frequency)

Armed with a link to the new forum front page on EVERY page on the old forum. The Warrior Forum's new front page was indexed VERY quickly.

As of the time I write this there are currently 63,100 pages that come up in Google on a "site:www.warriorforum.com" search, 65,600 pages if the search does not require the "www"

Translation. The boss here could get any page he wanted indexed incredibly fast if he wanted to abuse the forum like that. Not saying he would abuse the forum, he'sput way too much time and energy in to build a very successful forum.

Of course he could do this without us really even noticing by inserting a link in the footer of the forum.

Just mentioning this because I'd like to be able to have a site with so much authority/power that Google jumps to spider it often and to index anything and everything I linked to.

I know, this really doesn't have a large impact on any of us directly, and isn't entirely about IM. But it just goes to show, if you have *ONE* rapidly updated site (hence the beauty of a forum), which has been established enough for Google to notice, you could bring that site's indexing power to bear to almost instantly index any page you wanted.

I'm sure they index the outgoing links less frequently, but I noticed that links to sites that just happen to be in my signature or happen to be in my profile have been getting a lot of robot visits since the new forum went live.

    thats nice , if i am not wrong .. the previously the warrior forum was not on the root ... that might have been the reason for it not to have PR 4 , as the root or front page always carries higher PR.

    Rest assure with the new change , and social bookmarking feature, blog and so much interactivity , its heading towards PR 7 soon ...

      Plus the fact that we're all over excited trying everything out with the new forum. We should monitor the PR to see how quickly Google's going to take in our forum rush
