Quick Wordpress question

Hi,

I am a complete Wordpress newbie and I have a question. Let say I publish a new post that contains links, like this:

Check my videos on Youtube! (with "YouTube" as link to my channel)

If I check my blog homepage (let say myblog.com) I can see the post, but the link is not clickable, it's just normal text. If I click on the post title (and therefore go to, for example, myblog.com/check-youtube), however, the link is clickable and working.

Anyone know why? Is there a way to make links clickable in the homepage? Thanks.

    Hi

You need to use the little chain icon in the editor.

So type in your anchor text "Check my videos on YouTube", highlight it, click the chain icon and you will be prompted for the url.

Alternatively, you can use the editors html mode and type the html link code.

    Hope that helps
    Kevin

edit, I've just read your question more carefully - sounds weird if it's a link on the single post page, but not on the homepage. Can you post the link to your blog?

My blog is ebooksmasters.com (sorry can't post links on forum because it requires 15 posts), and the post is the last one, "We are almost ready".

Yes, I know the blog sucks, but I have uploaded it yesterday. I'm working on it right now.

    Hi,

I see what you mean - that is weird! I see you are using WordPRess version 2.8 and a theme called Langit. There is a question on their site if it's 2.8 compatible.

I would try changing theme back to the Default (or another one) and see if that solves it.

Also, you could try deactivating plugins one by one, to see if there is a conflict.

I've actually experienced the same, I think.

    I don't remember how I solved it though :p
Maybe a plugin, or a different theme will do. Or maybe some editing of the theme, or some settings.

Ok, the explanation is a little bit technical, but just in case you have someone that can do this for you: This happens is because you theme's homepage is using a the_excerpt() tag to call the content on the homepage.

An excerpt tag takes the first few words of the post and strips out all images, links, and formatting so as to give the reader just an example of what the content of the post is. You'd need to change the excerpt tag to a the_content() tag inside the theme to get the links and formatting of the post to show up.

That's a simple thing that you can get any WP-savvy person to do in a couple minutes, so if your heart is set on that theme, you might have hope yet (Feel free to PM me if you like.)

Ah! That explains it! You must be quite competent in WP Harry. Do you know a good audio player plugin?/solution

No-one have responded to my post yet.

Btw Pooglia, I can do it for you right now if you want. Just PM me. (I'm not sure, but you might not be able to PM yet. If that is the case, just take contact through my blog)

Man, my favorite which I always used was the uAudio (micro-audio) plugin but that one broke with the switch to 2.8 and the developer has not updated It's awesome if you're still on 2.7.1 though.

Sadly it seems all the audio player plugins are lagging behind the update on this cycle, and the only one that I've been able to find that's up to 2.8 is this one WordPress › wp audio gallery playlist WordPress Plugins but I can't "recommend" it because I haven't actually tried it out it yet.

    @Harry - Thanks! I really appreciate it.
However, it might be something "wrong" with my theme, or the audio players just aren't configured right.

I've tried many, but I can't get any of them to work. ( The uAudio works though, but it's a bit too simple,as I want to protect the audio link as well.)

Another question... It seems that wp keeps ignoring my use of html if I try to write posts in html format, as well as the visual editor doesn't seem to work as it should. For example, I can't get additional line breaks using either the visual or the html editor.

Have you ever encountered this? I think it "might" be the theme, but I really like it, so any kind of fix would be awesome!
    Looking forward to your reply.

    Thanks,
