Cold Traffic Before Doing Solo Ads?

Hey everyone.

So I want to get into solo ads as my market is not easily reached via other channels (besides blackhat SEO forums). I do know, however, a lot of people have email lists with the exact buyers I am looking to target.

My question is: should I try running cold traffic to some opt-ins or is running forum traffic (people click on signatures) good enough?

People spending time on forums are as close as I can get to my desired market, but I wasn't sure if maybe they're such a good match I should not expect similar conversion rates via solo ads....

Sounds like a great test... Compare the conversion rates of solo ad traffic vs. other cold traffic.

When we were still running Bing PPC and Google PPC along with Facebook PPC we had a separate funnel for each with tracking for each so we could see which traffic performed better. After a couple weeks, it became apparent that Facebook was WINNING, so we have shifted all in on that direction.

It is really nice to have the data to drive decisions... Makes decision making easier and it leads to incremental increases in ROI.

I wouldn't base your business around just forum traffic. Unfortunately, it's not scalable or reliable.

Don't get me wrong - it's a GREAT bonus. - Just not 100% scalable right?

That being said, I would advise you to try a small solo ad from a good vendor. (Maybe 100 clicks)... And simply see if the results are promising?

If promising, the good news is that it's EASY to scale with solo ads.

If it flops? Then at least you know to focus on other paid traffic sources like PPC + maybe media buys.

Just my honest $.02, and I wish you nothing but the best.

It's hard to predict whether or not your offer will convert with solo ads. There are just too many variables, and you can't really measure your results if you buy just one or evena couple of solo ads.

Sometimes you need luck to find the best sellers for your offer, but the only thing you can really do is test for yourself, keep your data and buy small in the beginning. Then if you have a considerable amount of data scale and buy larger click packages from the solo ad sellers that gave you the best results.

Yeah, this isn't my full business, just an income stream. And the traffic will be 90% based on advertising on the forum, not my signature clicks (thank God). So it will be mostly consistent. I just know there are people selling links that have lists of the exact buyers I want, so that's my #2 expansion after tapping out the forum.

Yeah I'm going to do my best to test small. I just thought maybe cold traffic would be a good predictor, as I really can't imagine to many people have lists that react in the same way outside of the Biz Opp niches. Then again I've never done this.
