List building suggestions?

Hi guys!

Can you guys help me suggest about my list building project? I am currently working on a video series (around 5 videos) right now and almost done with the project, and 3 of 5 of them are published on Youtube. But please help me decide which one is better for me to do?

Plan A: Put all videos in one page and create separate follow-up messages?

or

Plan B: Create pages for each video and make it a daily video series (1 video per day) as follow-up messages?

My ultimate goal is to build relationship, rapport and trust to my subscribers, so for those who are experienced on list building, which one of the above is more effective?

Thanks!

Jeff

i would separately send each video via follow up emails. That way, you can train your subscribers to open their emails and click on your links, giving you better CTR and response, ultimately sales!

    Option B in my opinion.

You have content for your emails for the duration of the series, you provide value and in any case, people probably won't stay on a page and watch them all in one sitting.

    Drip feed the value.

I agree that Plan B is a better option and MrTwoFister gives some good advice.

To take it a step further, what if you:

    1) Show the first video as a teaser, and mention that you have 4 more videos for people if they join your newsletter.

    2) Setup your newsletter service with a schedule of emails to send out each additional email every 2 days with a link to the next video in the series in each subsequent email (most tools like MailChimp and AWeber have this function).

By doing this you will build your list in step 1, and condition your list/build authority through step 2.

    Hi Jeff,

Since it's a 5-video series... is it a launch sequence? Does the last one end with a sales pitch?

I would go for a separate page for each (but with links pointing to the previous videos and faded video thumbnails for the upcoming content). This way, the prospect will be hooked onto the Zeigarnik effect and it'll be easier to engage attention for the next few videos.

Take a leaf out of Dan Kennedy's marketing strategy here: The Ultimate Lead Generation Machine | Video | Official Website

As you can see, he has 4 videos in his series. You can't exactly see it here, but the buttons for the videos that are not out yet were grayed out and unclickable. This gives the prospect a reason to wait for the other two videos.

Hi bigborker. I'm using Listwire right now as the autoresponder, coz it's free and can store unlimited subscribers. In my squeeze page, that is where I put my teaser video. Once they confirmed the link, they will immediately receive the first of five main videos in their email. Listwire doesn't have the feature that I can set the interval in 2 or more days. They automatically set the interval every one day, so the video series will be finished in 5 days.

It's not a launch sequence Imogen. My video series is free, which they need to opt-in in order to gain access to my videos.I created separate pages for each main video of my squeeze page's topic, and I just set them in daily order.

        Hi Jeff,

I guess this boils down to testing.

One thing that I've done is provide the first module of a course I'm selling to my prospects and then tell them that if they want the rest of the course, they would need to pay a simple fee.

The trick here is to show that there is actually a continuation to the information... You want an open loop.

It's not my market, but I've seen the male dating market do something similar... Look at MarkManson's course: The Fearless Dating Course - Mark Manson

Of course, I don't recommend using a 3-month continuity system like he does (maybe it works for him), but the squeeze to upsell method can certainly work in a similar way.

I personally like to present the entire 1st module to the prospect so that they can judge the value for themselves and actually want more. I even let them share the page and sometimes these social media things can provide huge surges in converting traffic.

I would prefer Plan B. Like @Adam said, the most people won't watch the whole video series at once. Therefore it is better you will send them as a series every 2-3 days and pointing to the upcoming video. By this way you will attract your subscribers and gain a higher CTR.
    All the best!

I would separate the video series and send them out, 1 by 1.

I like "Plan B" better. I just hope your email is exciting or important enough to reach the video link in your emails. Email copywriting is important too... not just getting traffic. But like i said, plan B sounds better, and if it was me, it's something that i would do. I also think this is a good idea that you're doing. But i'm a lazy and impatient guy with a crappy ISP... so i'd go for the free report/ebook - but MANY people love video. Good luck tho.

Plan B sounds like a better option in my opinion. Keeps people coming back to your site (which is good).

Gives you more exposure for all sorts of thing (affiliate offers, cpa offers etc.)

Sure, you want to build a relationship with your subscribers but at the same time, don't forget to make money off them too.

Since you are doing the series to build relationship and rapport, use the days between videos to ask for feedback, comments on the previous day's video page, share any valuable feedback and tease the next video.

Just because your chosen service won't let you schedule a day off doesn't mean you have to send the videos every day.
