Hey guys, Need some suggestions for putting video on my site. I'm currently using you tube, but If I want to record my screen, what would be the best way to add it to my site for people to view? Also, what do I need to compress my video with so it doesn't eat up my band width on my hosting account? Do I use Flash or mp4? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks |

I've been using motionbox because for $29 yr I have unlimited hosting with them and can put up 2 hour videos with no worries of eating up my own bandwith...

Flashplayer now supports playback in h.264 encoded mp4 and mov in addition to flash video formats like flv. Whether you use mp4 of flv will largely depend on whether the player you use to embed your video supports mp4 format or not. For example my Trigger Players only support flv but my Transparent Player supports FLV and h.264 encoded mp4 and mov playback as well. If you are using camtasia to record your screen then there are players right in camtasia that you can use to embed the video on your site. I don't like Camtasia myself but most people use it without any difficulty. There are also quite a few free players you can use to embed your video such as Flow Player etc. Quote:
2. File size limit 3. Link back to youtube 4. Youtube video occasionally fails to load externally and gives errors. 5. Less control over play modes and functions like buffer time etc. 6. No control over specific bit rate settings for optimized delivery. | |

I use Camtasia and it offers several compression options and several file format options for videos. I'm not enough of a technie to know which is better than the other, but I frequently google a question I have about tech questions and look on the list for a reputable site for their suggestions. I've found it easy to place the videos on blogs with plugins, and regular websites using the options available in the html program. Dreamweaver has a way to do it and XSitepro does as well if you're using either of those. |

I really like Vimeo for video. Way better quality than YouTube and nicer look.
