For people starting out is it better to buy a system or just wing it ? The reason why I'm asking is that it seems like there is information over load on this site. I understand the bigger picture of Internet marketing but it's the smaller stuff that I'm missing.

Starting out can be daunting so my recommendation is to 20% learning but 80% doing.

Experience is still the best teacher but I recommend to staying with one skill and kill it!

So you dont spread yourself thin being jack of all trades

Also if you find a mentor that has proven success and testimonials can save you plenty of heartaches from making mistakes and recommend to you what works for them and their student's successes.

The problem with just buying a system is like working out in a gym and picking up a dumbbell or machine and winging it.

Yes you may start seeing results but you might get injured in the process and you will hit plateau quick.

If you get a trainer and learn the science why you lift the weights and other wisdom in nutrition and rest then you are on your way to a healthy lifestyle.

This is no different from financial and online business health. Focus on one thing and master it, copy the leaders in that niche and see how they operate and add your flavour to their style.

Reinventing the wheel is unnecessary and can develop into the dreaded shiny product syndrome if not careful

      Neither.

The first thing you should do is ...
      • Establish a plan and set your goals (Be aware they may need updating as you gain knowledge)
      • Next take advantage of all the free information on this forum. And ask plenty of questions.
      • After you've immersed yourself in the fundamentals your personal goals, objectives and knowledge will tell you which direction to take.

By recognizing the danger of information overload, you're already ahead of most people. That's why you should focus on establishing your own plan and goals (you do have one don't you), otherwise you will be overloaded.

Imagine: It would be like going to your county library and seeing the enormous rows of books, but not knowing what subjects you want to study. Having a goal and a plan will give you more focus.

And finally, whatever you do, don't wing it. The Internet marketing road is littered with the dead bodies (and dreams) of people who thought they could wing it. Instead of taking their time to learn the fundamentals and pay attention to the details

Just food for thought. Good Luck.

Starting out - I would pick a system - one that sounds interesting to you and that you feel you can handle. More than likely a $7 WSO is not a system. Do research, follow solid internet marketers blogs and make an informed decision.

Don't go based on how shiny it is.

Once you've come to understand that system - you can begin to evolve it into your own.

    Hi John!

What do you mean with just wing it? Yes, there are many ways to make money on the Net. The basics stay the same however. Find a problem that people are experiencing and solve it for them. Help enough people get what they want and you can have anything you want.

Winging it equals failing and you don't want that. It's frustrating you and you'd be trying so many methhods and strategies out there, that eventually you'll feel like nothing works. And that means you won't be making any money!

You need a system for several reasons:
    1.It will keep you focussed
    2. It will help you take consistent action
    3. It will give you clarity on what to do next.

Having a structured plan helps you identify what your goal is, which steps to take to get towards that goal and which roadblocks to crush. Knowing what sells and how your skill set can help you create products or services that will actually solve someone's problem, is key here. Same thing goes if you choose to decide to do affiliate marketing.

    Good luck!

What is the "bigger picture" and the "smaller stuff" that you're talking about? That confuses even me.

Just start doing something and don't worry about theory yet. Test with your money and get a site up, start running ads, get an email autoresponder, gather leads, and get used to the process. Contrary to popular belief... it doesn't take a genius to make good money online.

Definitely just pick one thing that you think will work and go with it and see what you can do if you want to change then go for it just don't change all the time or you will burn through alot of money instead of making it
