Where to invest $500/mo to generate sales.

Hi guys, I'm referring to professionals and hopefully someone can point me into right direction before I waste time and money on marketing that does not work.

I have recently opened one man graphic and web design company and I'm looking to develop local marketing strategy to generate more leads and grow.

I'm planing to spend anywhere from $100 to $500/mo. I was thinking about google adwords, yellow pages and google maps.

What would be your suggestions for effective strategy within my budget? I'm located in West Palm Beach, FL.

Thanks in advance for help.

If you want, you could post this agin in the "offline marketing' section, and you'll get more informed answers,

But to get you started......try to market spending as little paid advertising as possible at this point. Your $500 will disappear sooner than you think, and I would suggest not spending it all on advertising.

Only invest the money on the essentials like your website, hosting, and maybe even for basic SEO outsourcing. You definitely want to rank for the keywords, "west palm beach web design" or something similar.

You can also try targeting businesses upfront. You can always get clients this way.

It would be awesome if someone could move it to offline section.

You can use local pennysavers with some of that. That works VERY well depending on what type of neighborhood you are in, and is extremely cost effective for a huge ad.

Once upon a time I sold yellowbook ads. I wouldn't recommend putting a whole lot towards that venue. For two reasons. One, I suspect the people in your local market are probably a bit more tech savvy and probably don't use the yellow pages much unless the power goes out. And second, while most yellow page companies have online products for local marketing, my experience was they were way over-priced and yielded a poor ROI.

Where you put your $500 really depends on who you're market is and how you can get in front of their eyeballs.

Adwords, Google Display Ads, and Facebook ads all allow you to geo-target so your ads only show to your defined audience.

But as was stated earlier, unless you know what you're doing or take the time to learn, that cash will disappear faster than a bacon treat in front of my yorkie!

Personally I'd look for a local online marketing consultant who (or three to compare) and get some guidance specific to your region.

    Facebook PPC!!!!

You could build a list of local business owners that could be leveraged in many ways in the future, in addition to generating leads and sales.

You could also refine a sales funnel with A/B split testing in the process and you could then duplicate that funnel for other markets and sell the leads to other designers, create a profit split with a partner in that area or simply build 'satellite' offices and handle those clients yourself.

Last benefit... You can start selling FB PPC services to clients with all the knowledge you will have gained through your personal experience in that area.

    Best of luck.

Have to agree here. With that kind of budget, I'd start with Facebook PPC.

The best advertising is word of mouth, do some good free work for someone that will show it if off and brag about it.

Call around as someone conducting "research" for a future web design business and ask what's the one thing they wish their site did that it doesn't...or what their perfect redesign price would be...etc

You'll get people to tell you everything you want to know, and they'll ask you to contact them when your service has "started"

Great technique! I've done something like this before.
