On pricing your products (sorry, I'm longwinded today)

My search-fu definitely isn't strong. I searched "how to price content" in various forms and no luck. It seems like that would be something that's talked about.

Anyway, I'm doing several different things right now. I bought a bunch of PLR and I'm re-writing it into a product, complete with bonuses. I have no idea how to price it.

I'd like to sell it for about $47. I'll be marketing it and hopefully others will too through clickbank, e-junkie and maybe paydotcom. I originally wanted to sell it for about $27 because that price seemed more likely to make sales. But, after I remembered the affiliates, I raised it to $47.

I've seen products going for about $47 with 75% commission payout. That's like a 14 bucks per sale profit! I can't remember if there is a OTO or not, but with a profit like that I would hope so. Or, am I just being greedy?

Well, this started as a "How to Write a Business Plan" free give-away and grew into action plan that I want to sell. Basically. it's a step by step course on starting and running a business which can work online or off. Its not necessarily a 'get rich quick' plan, but its an honest approach at getting started for someone who is clueless or just needs an extra boost in getting started. I'm including everything from writing a business plan, with examples and forms, to setting up and marketing online and off.

Anyway, I'll stop rambling. But, the above is another reason why I'm having a hard time pricing. In my mind this is an awesome product that and I'm really trying to overdeliver on. Plus, I'm doing all the writing and research myself instead of outsourcing (I may outsource the proofing though, if I can afford it). But I want to make money at the same time.

So, anyone have any tips or suggestions? I'm stuck.

Well I think that you should calibrate, perhaps make a guarantee that the product will pay it self of in, let's say, 30 days so that they'll get the product basically free...

Or you could set it at a lower margin, and then later try to raise or lower the price, based on the kind of response you get.

I'm no expert at this but this is the way I would have done it....

i'd offer it as a wso first and get some great feedback. and you can ask then what most folks think something like your product could fetch.

i think possibly you could go up to $197, after that i think you hit a mental block with a lot of folks. but it depends on a lot of factors. what niche, how many bonuses are included, your guarantee (i'd give 60 days), testimonials, how killer your sales page is and of course you need to get traffic to it to buy.

    hope this helps,

What would you do IF you could do it?
After twelve years of therapy my psychiatrist said something that brought tears to my eyes. He said, "No hablo ingles."

    Hi,

I can suggest you go to WSO to search for similar products
and see how they price their item and what offers/ bonuses
    are they giving.

Clickbank is also a good source to do research.

And offer your bonus so that it overdelivers
and one simple rule I follow....

only offer bonus which can be sold as a product.

And it must meet the needs of your buyers.
