How should a newbie choose?

Hi,

I've been going through the forums here and you guys absolutely have to be the most helpful bunch of people I have ever seen! Thank you for that. My trouble is that I am a newbie in internet marketing and there is a HUGE universe of ways to make money on line out there.

So how does a newbie decide what to specialize in? I know you will say 'It's up to you' but I think there must be a way to find more guidance than that. I guess what I am looking for is a "What Color is your Parachute" guide to IM. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Hal,

A good way to promote affiliate products is through niche blogs. One program that stands out (and has learned me the most) is The Nicheblogger from Amy Bass. I think you can still find it somewhere on the WSO forum.

If the newbie determines to research and then select a proven online business model, it will drastically cut down on info-overload, confusion and inaction.

There are only a few ways for a newbie to go and they must start somewhere.

    They must choose!

Here's a thread that has helped many a newbie get on the right track...

Pick a product that you are familiar with, perhaps as a hobby or something from a past career. Keep in mind that you want to find your own particular niche - something that isn't completely saturated with content.

    Just my two cents.

    Hi

If you're on a budget just create a free blog at wordpress. Pick something you can write on. Go to google to find long tail keywords. Once you've done that just populate your blog with content, and create an account at Ezinearticles and submit your articles linking to your blog. You probably can find threads about SEO around here, do check them out.

Once you have your earnings, do reinvest them. You can buy infoproducts (the ones in the WSOs are great), and add to your knowledge. Read very widely and try a lot of methods within your budget. Once you have found a comfortable method, push it to the limit! I hope you'll have a great time internet marketing, though sometimes you may face difficulties, its a challenge that is enjoyable to me, and hopefully to you

    Passion - Skill - Market.

What are you passionate about? Make a list of everything you really love.

What are you skilled at? Cross off everything you're not good at doing.

Where is the market? Take the rest of the stuff on the list, and go look at what products are available relating to it. Circle everything that looks like people are making good money doing it. Try to combine as many of those as possible.

My initial list of passions was something like this: skateboarding, guitar, programming, marketing, advertising, writing, business, law, economics.

I crossed off everything I'm not good at, leaving: guitar, programming, writing, business.

I looked into the market, and circled "writing" and "business". The obvious answer is "business writing". That's my niche. It's a good one; lots of people make millions in this niche.

Extra credit: identify the other things in your passion list that you could become good at, and make an action plan to get good at them. In my case, marketing and advertising go right along with business writing, so I'm going to be studying those closely to add them into my niche efforts.

I suppose the trick for this is to actually sit down and brainstorm what are YOUR areas of expertise and what exactly interests you. Let's say if you're pretty good with words and can whip up an article within a minute, then I suppose looking into providing such a service would be ideal.

Or perhaps you've got a great track record when it comes to sales or marketing. Then maybe you can consider being an affiliate by checking out products in Clickbank or somewhere similar. Cause marketing a product would be of second nature to you, so the possibility of you succeeding is even higher. Of course, researching is of utmost importance and don't be afraid to fail.

Basically, work to your strengths, and improve on your weaknesses. Good luck on that!

Choose anything that you are passionate about, your interest or hobbies. The best way to start is affiliate marketing. I really recommend that you should find a mentor,or you will suffer from information overload.

Don't just buy any ebook you find online.

    Hi,

I would advise you on working with your passion
which fulfill the 3 following criterias...

    1. there is a demand
    2. there is a pool of buying customers
    3. there is substantial profits.

As long as you are sticking to these 3 simple
rules plus inline with your passion, you
should be able to move far.

    To your success,
    John

    Hal1989,

Firstly, Good on you for joining the community.

I understand the frustrations you are going through, and yes, there is a lot to learn.

At first, I tried almost a bit of everything, and ended up achieving little.

I think you can look at this in several ways.

You could use a replicated site, that already has products, and they are populated with your links, so you can earn a commission that way.

Another method is to find out what you are good at, or think you know much about.

Everyone is passionate about something, and in you, there is an eBook or similar.

Write it, and then create a site to market it, through blogs, and your website.

Finally, you can simply promote other people's products, such as those found on Clickbank.

It is easy to register, and free, and all you need to do is pick a name, and then use their generator to create your links.

You could then create review pages, and you're on your way.

I realise this may be a little simplistic, but to fully answer your question would be an eBook in itself.
