When you're doing a product review are there any "best practices" to follow?
Even in terms of formatting? Length etc.

What reviews have you done that converted well and to what aspects of those reviews do you attribute your success?

        If you mean product reviews as in pre-sell pages to drive traffic to a product vendor's site, I would also say bonuses are a huge factor. When visitors come to a pre-sell page they expect some kind of bonus in exchange for ordering through one of your links.

        Also, don't get caught in the trap of saying something like, "Huge $1,995 bonus when you order here." That stuff is all baloney and I won't even look at it. No bonus is worth that much unless the product is in the $5,000 range and there aren't many like that. Good luck!

    i would make sure that the main message isnt the features but the benifits they provide.

    E.G dont say "Guide will teach you to build PPC campains"

    instead put " learn how to gain high quality prospects"

    I like this one that one of my subscribers recently did:

    he writes a lovely long one on his blog and then a shorter version on ezinearticles. To increase the traffic he then bookmarks it and puts the whole ezinearticle onto a free blog with all the links intact.

    It depends. What is the "review" for? If you're looking for conversion then you'd structure the review pretty much like you structure a salesletter: attention, interest, desire, action. Obviously you'd need to be more low key otherwise people wouldn't trust your "review".

      Depending on the niche, customers have grown wary of 'reviews'.

      My best performing review for a forex product ($1000 value) had a CTR of 43%. It didn't convert very well but that was down to the price and lack of time (I sold the site).

      What I focused on was building trust by putting myself honestly in the position of the consumer. I start out letting people know that I am not easily fooled, I am in fact something of a skeptic. Then I list a number of objections the buyer would have: Too expensive, scam, hype etc. And debunk them one by one, while comparing this product to others. This builds rapport with the reader.

      Then when I have some credibility, I work on building credibility for the maker of the product. I use his name a lot, makes him familiar, then I go on to describe the content of the product, why it's a good deal.

      When I have done this, I find a minor flaw to accentuate. No one will trust a 100% positive review.

      I go into the last call to action by describing my personal experience with the product, how I benefitted, but I point out that you must take action and follow trough step by step in order to get results.

      I also used a few 'which type are you' 'action or no action' clichees.

      This interview was over 1400 words yet it had the highest CTR of all I have written. I use this template for just about all products in Forex.
