I know exactly how you feel. I have gotten the exact same headaches. It's like you try so hard for so little and get hardly anything back. I know though that you just have to keep on truckin' and things will turn out okay. Keep going, dude!

Stress headaches? Could be you need to relax. Or it could be eyestrain or your desk or your chair, if your chair and desk don't fit you properly you can get really bad back, neck, and headaches from sitting there too long.

      Stress headaches.

This comes from just thinking of getting up and getting to it.

If you're pulling long shifts doing IM in front of your computer then a few of the following things might help:

    1) Make sure the room you're working in is well ventilated.
    2) Make sure there is plenty of natural light coming into the room.
    3) Look away from the computer for 5 minutes every hour, or better yet, get up and walk around or step outside for 5 minutes.
    4) Make sure you get 15+ minutes of sunlight on your skin every day.
    5) Get 1 hour of exercise each day, even if it's just going for a walk.

I used to feel guilty stepping away from the computer for any longer than a few hours, back when I was running my mail-order business. I'd feel stressed and anxious if I wasn't doing something productive for the business. Anything else felt like wasting time and I really didn't look after my health or eat very well.

But after changing my diet, starting the gym and doing the things I mentioned above, I know for sure you will feel much better when you're working if you do some of the same things. Your concentration will be better, you'll have less of that nervous energy and stressed feeling, and you won't feel depressed because you'll be so focused on what you're doing.

I put in long hours at my computer as a writer. What has always worked well for me is to take a 10 minute walk away break every hour and an hour break every 4 hours.

I also exercise. For me I ride my bike about 2 hours per day, early in the morning.

I read in Runner's World that for every hour of complete inactivity, it lessens the effects of a workout by about 10%.

So get up and move around and get some exercise. It really does help.

You need to work on making some aspects of your IM work automated, such as by using an autoresponder. Outsource some smaller jobs to a virtual assistant or hire someone to do petty jobs associated with your work on one of the numerous gig sites. You will only pay a few dollars, but this will free you up to do more important marketing and writing work that you might not have time for otherwise.

Regularly scheduled breaks are very important; even if you just take a 10 minute walk, read a book for fun, play a board/card game, talk to family or friends. Get out of the mind set for even just 10 minutes every few hours or so. It will allow you a refresh, a new mind set and keep you from overwhelming yourself.
