Content Marketing Discussion

Hey folks,

A client of mine told me that he needed help with promoting his business online via content marketing. I've looked in the forums but haven't seen TOO much information.

I'm trying to create a roadmap for my client for content marketing. One way is by reaching out to bloggers / site owners catered to his niche, and just letting them know about his business and if they can promote it. Other way is through press releases and social media.

Other than that, do you guys have any ideas or sources I can look into?

Thanks.

That sounds good. Another way is to hire article writers here in the forum or iwriter.com and start an article marketing campaign. Your articles can be syndicated across hundreds of sites using outsourcers on fiverr.

I've been working on these types of ideas for a while
Trying to find a good way to create content which is not just informational but valuable in a way which I want to create it

I am not big on trying to be overly technical or step by step all the time

I have found a formula which I believe will work for me..

I used a variety of sources to put to together my thinking on this

"Content Rules" book - Handley & Chapman
    "Launch" - Michael Stelzner
    Derek Halpern - SocialTriggers.com / BlogThatConverts.com
Rich Schefren / Strategic Profits - "Founder's Club" Reports and Audios
Colin Theriot - Super Hero Story Telling & other products - https://www.facebook.com/groups/cultofcopy/
"The Story Factor" - By Annette Simmons
Desperate Buyers Only - Alexis Dawes desperatebuyersonly.com (Excellent bonus on writing and creating value)

    Some blogs to check out:

    http://www.contentchampion.com/
    http://goinswriter.com/

I have worked out a pretty good formula for myself and am building up (finally) now that things have finally clicked for me.

I'm looking to exchange ideas with others who are thinking at this level.. but so far haven't found too many motivated people (maybe one or two) - most others seem excited at first and then invariably "drop the ball"

    Good luck!

You need to read content marketing related blogs not forums.

Content marketing = You create an awesome piece of content on your CLIENT's site and outreach the hell out of it. It doesn't mean you need to publish press releases or sponsored posts.

I'm not going too deep into how you can create an awesome piece of content, but there are several ways do it. Just look similar blogs/websites that are doing well on SERPs and use Ahrefs or any other similar tool to find out top pages.

Once you have the list of top pages, you'll see what kind of content gets the most links/shares/likes etc.

Now re-create it or better yet, create something better. Once that's done, get in touch with all the people who have linked to it (or linked to similar content) or shared it on twitter (great tool is Topsy for example) and start sending emails.

I've done a lot of similar stuff in the past. One of my best pieces of content got more than 260 links (different domains), over 1k tweets and FB shares. It takes time, but it's worth it.

Also, don't forget the design. Yeah, you can create an awesome piece of "OMG, I MUST SHARE THIS SHIT" content, but if you don't visualize it or design it then people well look: "well, oh... it looks good, but nah... I won't share it". Design is extremely important aspect of content marketing.
