Hi All:
Hoping that someone can help. I wrote an article about a year ago about how to get sexy abs and placed that article on scribd. Tonight I saw that article on Amazon kindle for sale. The author at Amazon has my identical name and also the title is identical. How did this happen? I know little about kindle.

It sucks but it happens sometimes. People will try to steal your content and profit from it. Fileshare hosting sites like scribd make it easy for people to download your content.

Wow, I didn't even know you could sell articles there.

I have had someone steal my article and submit it to the same article directory that they stole it from -I contacted the article directory and they removed it and banned him. He put his own name to it though, it might be a bit harder to prove if he is actually using your name.

Send a DMCA take down notice to amazon. Then poof. It'll be gone if they follow the law.

Write Amazon to pay you the royalties. It serves the thief right.

I have had some of my content ripped off before, mostly ad copy and posted on other websites.

I immediately sent them an email. I sent an email to their ISP. The content was removed in 24 hours. I did a who is search to find the information.

I would think there is a time stamp of when you submitted the original article. Check with the article directory from where it was originally submitted.

I would directly contact amazon support and forward information that you have. I would also explain that not only did they rip you off, they are also guilty of identity theft.

I would also try to contact the person who ripped you off and explain you will be taking legal action. Explain you have been in contact with a lawyer. (no legal advice, here, but saying you have been in contact with a lawyer helps).

If they have a website, I would contact their ISP and explain they have violated copyright laws and this may get their website removed.

The fact that they used your name is very dangerous and scary.

Please follow up here with how this played out. It would be very helpful for all of us.

I have had a similar problem. Similar in the sense that somebody copied my article into his/her blog at Blogger.com without my name as the author and my links dead. The article was submitted by me to Ezinearticles.com way back in 2007. When I reviewed [just updated dead link and changed the heading] the article and resubmitted, EZA pointed it out to me and suspended my account until I provide the source of my article.

After convincing them that I had submitted the article in 2007 to them and the blog post was done in 2008, they agreed to lift the suspension on my account but refused to republish the article until I get the owner of the blog to acknowledge me as the author.

I went to the blog only to discover that the last post on the blog was early 2008. I fulfilled all righteousness and commented on the blog which has not been acted upon at this time.

EZA still insists I must petition Blogger about the infringement. I have gone to blogger and seen their policy on copyright infringement reporting. One of the requirements was to provide the original article source. This source has been taken down by EZA so how can I provide that? I have a similar article at Goarticles.com but a minor difference was there. One of my links was different than that copied by the blogger which legally makes them different articles.

I have decided to let the article go until the blogger responds or, otherwise, I will forget the article and continue to write others.

It appears nothing can be done to stop certain class of thieves who steal other persons' property on the internet.

Try as much as possible to protect what is yours for once it has been stolen, recovery is often difficult and will most times derail you from your main purpose of logging onto the internet in the first instance.
