It would probably depend on your niche, as long as the niche isn't on their banned list then you should be ok.

squidoo can be hard depending on your niche and content. If you participate in the squidoo community and write good content people like without sounding like a sales person then it can be good.

Squidoo is a great tool for marketing. Just make a lens that seems informational to the public rather than a sale page then add your product link somewhere as recommendation. Don't go around like "This is the best..buy here..buy here..guaranteed results." etc..

Well, I tried it and it seemed to be a lot of overhyped fluff. Probably works for general areas like diets, dating, etc but not at all for the technical and software stuff that I sell.

If you do solid keyword research, and pull together some decent content, Squidoo lenses can still do very nicely.

I don't think the changes in Squidoo policy will affect you badly at all if you are not a spammers and not writing about anything on their banned list. Squidoo still remains for me a big platform for internet marketing. The best thing about Squidoo is that the lens get indexed very quickly, in the matter of hours and you get traffic from Squidoo itself as well.

Im not really the biggest fan of squidoo as i am afraid to say that i dont get it. But i pay others to do the lenses for me and get a great deal out of them and would be lost if i didnt have them as a source of backlinks.

I've been building Squidoo lenses for around 2 years now off and on and have had mixed results with them. A lot depends upon the niche as others have already pointed out here. As a source of backlinks they can be good as long as you don't add too many per lens.

Lately, I've been building them to target specific long tail keywords with a single link to one of my sites in the same niche. This is working better than more general lenses linking to several sites.

The changes they're implementing should not affect you if you use common sense and build good quality lenses that are not on their banned list of niches.
