Amazon Marketing - The Little Book That Could

Looking for some help guys.

My father just published a small book. 20 dollar book. Physical book.

Put it up on amazon/kindle. No traffic obviously.

Now I'm at a loss. And I'm supposed to be the marketer. I know a lot about Clickbank VSLs big sales funnels email marketing and media buys...but my poor dad just had this one little book and its in a pretty specific niche. And he's really not interested in selling anything else.

Where should I look for profitable traffic to this book that only pays out 10 bucks? (obviously niche specific traffic)

Where can I find someone to run the damn campaign FOR HIM for a fee?

Those are my two questions dudes and dudets.

Help!!!

I think it's just like driving targeted traffic to any niche site?

And I'd put up a "niche site" for it, too: send the traffic to a one-page blog about the book with links to the Amazon sales page, rather than directly to the Amazon sales page? That's what I'd test, anyway.

Does it really? Pay out $10 on a $20 price?

At a price of $9.99, on Kindle, it would pay out $7, wouldn't it?

I'm "just saying". Have you thought about testing other prices?

Without knowing what the niche is, I don't know really what else to say, but I'm wondering whether there might also be a market through CreateSpace, for print-on-demand copies?

And maybe submitting it (perhaps all at once, through "Draft2Digital"?) to a load of other retail outlets, too? (Can't hurt?).

Since Amazon also allows authors to use their own affiliate links to sell their books, I'd set him up with an associate account. Raises the payout to 74-78% over straight Kindle at 70%.

Amazon and Clickbank are different animals. You (Mike) sound like a CB guy talking about a 50% commission on a $20 book.

On Kindle, at $20 you'd be at the 35% royalty, or about $7. At $9.99, you'd be at the 70% royalty, or about $7. But you'd likely sell many more at $9.99 than you would at $20.

Even if there is zero interest in a POD version, it can be a good marketing idea. If there is a physical version, Amazon will publish that price along with the digital price. If the physical price is about $20-$25, $9.99 for the digital version will look like a steal.

And if it catches the occasional physical sale, the royalty is about 60% if I remember right. Or about $12, compared to the $10 you make at CB with 50% commission.

As for someone to do it for him, Warrior Di Heuser just started a new service for authors that will do a lot of it. Get in touch with her and see what happens...

For driving traffic do not be opposed to find brick and mortar establishments that focus on your same target market. You can promote with them for free often times if you build a good relationship with them, and they can refer you to other places that will likely do the same for you.

If it's in a really specific niche you could look for some forums in that niche and promote it there in you signature.

    Hope this helps; good luck.
