How To Obtian Filezilla Details

You'll need to log into your Godaddy account and point your domain's nameservers to hostgator. I don't personally use Hostgator, but somewhere in your Hostgator account it should tell you the nameservers that you need to use, and somewhere in your account it should also give you the FTP login details. If you an't find these after a quick search, just contact their support and they'll point you in the right direction!

Like Metis said first of all you will need to point your nameservers from Godaddy to Hostgator, and then wait a while until they propagate.

This could be up to 48 hours, in practice it is usually within 4 hours.


Get your Hostgator server names handy, these will be in the email from HG confirming your account.

Log in to Godaddy
Click on the Domains box
Click Launch
in the next window click on the name of your domain
in the next window under the heading Nameservers - click on Manage

In the following popup click the custom button and enter your Hostagator server names, one in each box.
These will be something like NS1234.Hostgator.com
Click add nameservers, and your done. Log out.


When propagated you will need to add the domain to your Hostgator account.

Log in to your HG account cPanel
find the window which says 'Addon Domains'
Enter your site without the http
Some boxes will pre-populate
Fill in the remaining details
Make an offline note of them
Click on Add domain.


When you want to log in to Filezilla...

Enter the root domain of your HG account, in the box top left (this is the first domain you registered when you opened you HG account)

Enter it in this format... yourdomain.com

Enter your cPanel username
Enter your cPanel password.

Click on 'Quickconnect'
