The most successfull tactics for hosting affiliates

Hello, I would like to ask a couple of questions. I am not experienced with this. I want to ask questions about affiliate marketing and also about the techniques/methods that are the most effective.

- How can I choose the best affiliate for the job (In this case hosting)
- What are the top ways to effectively promote this affiliate? (Hosting)
- Should I invest money in Banner ads and PPC for the affiliate? if so, how could 100$ be spend the smartest?
- What are the top mistakes most people make in this type of affiliate marketing?
- I want to make 2000$/Monthly off this (For the moment) is this a good niche or category to make that amount in?

Best Regards,
Luca

    Hi Luca,

I've been doing affiliate marketing for hosting companies for nearly 2 years now. Before that I just sold some crap from Clickbank. Once I started promoting hosting packages - I've never looked back . Anyhow, I'll try to chime in and answer your questions.

    1) At first, it doesn't really matter. Try to get some sort of volume (X sales per day/month) and then you can go ahead and try to get a better deal from someone else. I've found that WebHostingHub does pretty well (no scrubbing at all and great affiliate managers). Second is iPage, imho.

Of course, at first your CPA is probably around $100, but later you can get it easily to $150 - $200.

Just try to find something that converts well. Make sure you read TERMS as well, 90% of hosting companies WILL NOT pay for a lead that either refunds or goes inactive. Try to find the ones that are not doing it.

    2) I'm not "guru", but I have found two things converting well: One idea is to create some sort of tutorial on how to create a blog/ build a website and get some traffic do it. In this case, you don't actually "promote" or "sell" anything. People just follow your guide and in order to set up a website/blog they'll need to get a hosting/domain.

Second idea is to put together a comparison chart of "review" about different hostings. In that way, visitors are much more into buying.

    3) $100 is way too less for "testing" or "trying" something out with paid traffic. I think you need at least $3000 and some basic skills/knowledge. On the other hand, if you don't have much money to spend, you can try to build a micro site that produces useful content and try to get in ranked on Google. Obviously you'll need to know a lot about SEO.

    4) Top mistakes? People quit too soon. Just way too common. Don't do that

    5) You can definitely make $2000 per month, but it will take some time. I've had some months over $100k and I know people who make $300k-$400k per month by promoting hosting. I'm more than sure that there are even BIGGER affiliates who make even more money.

    Hope that helps
