Hello Warriors, Earlier today there was a "what's your favourite TinyURL alternative" thread floating around. Did a quick search to see if what I'm about to suggest has been brought up in the past (I'm sure I've seen it somewhere) but didn't find what I was looking for. Here's my idea: surely it's actually very easy to get a URL-redirect where you can choose any keywords you like... Step 1: Register a 2/3/4-character .us / whatever domain (hence $10/year) and add it on to your regular host Step 2: Create a directory and name it ["Keyword"] (whatever it is) Step 3: Create a 301 redirect - I like php: <? Header( "HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently" ); Header( "Location: http www new-url com" ); ?> (credit for the script goes to webconfs dot com) and name the page index.php. Upload it to your "Keyword" directory. --- You now have a redirect that looks like this: xxx.us/Keyword Simple, no? Gil-Ad |

Thats actually a pretty good idea. There are self hosted scripts though that will help you out and create the redirects for you. You just enter in the URL and away it goes. This saves time in the long run. Good info though. Thanks for the post! |
