How can I find funding for my web startup?

I am in a good position as a facebook application developer/programmer to begin writing a suite of highly profitable applications. I have worked on quite a few viral apps in my time as a facebook developer.

Time is key here, and I would like to outsource many programming jobs, but I am lacking the funds to get started.

Where should I go to find funding? I am willing to pay for any initial resources if necessary (i.e. LinkedIn).

If any warriors have any tips for me, I would love to learn some more.

Just to get an idea - how much funding do you believe you'll need?

Also, how will the site be monetized? An investor will definitely want to know how and when they'll get their money back.

First stop is usually yourself. Easy access to credit cards, line of credit, home equity, selling stuff you own, asking friends and family, getting donations, getting gift money, etc.

Second stop might be to ask for a partner who has the money you need. Or prepare a business plan for a bank loan. Either way you will need to get everything in writing to explain your current situation, and possible future outcome.

Don't be afraid to ask for help. You might want to check out the business school at your local university. They can give you pointers or even provide cheap assistance from a graduate MBA student.

I think your best option is to write the first one yourself or partner with someone so you have no money going out, and money coming in.

To me when you say "highly profitable" application it is something quite different than showing you have a "highly profitable" application. Build one, investors will come. Come back here even after you have one, and I will be the first to help fund/partner another application with you.
