Is still a profitable idea?

Hey there,

- How to make money online

Is still a profitable niche? Currently searching for a niche or topic that will have a good chance of generating some extra income if of course I can market the products correctly and get some traffic.

So what do you think, would you or anyone you know buy digital products online related to making money online?

Thanks!

Not so profitable and also you have lots of competitors

It would be easier to go into a niche market with less competition, especially if you are fairly new to internet marketing. Pick a smaller niche with a passionate audience. Do your research first before diving in to any market.

I'll disagree with almost everyone in this thread above me...

Competitive niches are competitive for a reason ... there's lot's of customers.

The MMO niche will be interesting to virtually EVERYONE at one point or another... so the customer base is far larger than the supply.

Anyone in a reasonably built up urban area ever see a new or used car lot all by itself? No... they all congregate together, and do good business... only an idiot would say... I'm going to put MY car lot on the other side of town where there's no competition.

You need to learn how to drive traffic no matter what your niche is... so why not drive that traffic to an MMO niche? That traffic will be easier to find, and will have just as great an interest in your niche as the traffic for some smaller niche.

Now, it's true, you need to learn what you're doing... but that would hold true for any niche you chose. Just be sure to pick something that interests you, and if you're lucky enough to already be an expert in that niche - more power to you.

But regardless, if you want to earn with a niche, you will become an expert in that field.

I agree with Ben it's one of the biggest niches for a reason. I use to sell in this niche before I had any success by just selling other successful people's products that worked for me well, then I started making my own info products in the niche, some sold some didn't. It's harder with your products but you can make more if you hit a home run.

    I'm with Ben...

The MMO niche is definitely profitable. The only one's struggling are the ones flying blind, or better yet not making themselves seen.

So many people are competing in the Make Money Online niche. However, that just means it's a very popular niche with lots of people wanting to know more. If you can come up with some unique information for these online opportunity seekers, then you are likely to get the lion's share of visitors to your blog.

It's not really a "niche". It's a market, and a huge one, and it's hugely profitable. That's part of the reason why more beginning marketers have "accidents" with it than with anything else.

Starting out in "MMO niches" is the single commonest mistake that aspiring marketers make, and the biggest single reason for their failures.

The one thing that's absolutely certain, if you start out that way, is that you're competing for the same traffic with some of the world's most experienced, most successful and best-funded professional internet marketers. Who's going to win that competition - you, or them?

How would you teach people something of which you have no successful experience yourself?

It is an evergreen niche. But heavily competitive.

I was going to write a long post, but I see that Alexa has said pretty much what I wanted to say: that MMO is a very profitable market (not really a niche) but unless you have credibility as someone who is already making money online it will be extremely difficult.

I fundamentally disagree with those people who advise newbies to follow their passion (after all, not everyone has a passion that is marketable) but I do think that good advice is to follow your strengths. Right now the OP has no strength in the MMO market, but hopefully that will come in time.

Make life easier on yourself; that's my advice.

You'll find truth in a lot that has been written above. To summarize: MMO is a saturated niche, but, yes, money can be made.

Thing is . . . (and I mean no offense by this): If you have to ask if a niche is profitable, I'd be willing to be you're a relative newcomer to making money online. I think everyone, up until now, is missing the point here, not reading between the lines. The point is that you're new and you're considering entry into a highly-competitive niche. I can tell you now, and I hope save you some time and money, that you will likely struggle and, eventually, realize that other avenues represent greener pastures. So, that being said, I recommend stepping into a Delorean and fast-forwarding to that point in time now. Look at niches where you have less competition. Think about it: how many new Coca Colas or Pepsis are starting up these days? Saying that you should congregate next to a bunch of car dealerships is fine (on paper), but would you want to open up a brand new burger bar with McD's on one side and Burger King on the other?

Trying to save you here, buddy. Hope I have.

If theirs competition than money can be made.
Figure out how your going to tackle that market from a different angle.

Everyone is selling how to make money products via ebooks, coaching and mentoring.
Is there another angle you can take ?

It absolutely IS a profitable market. However, your approach to the market will determine your success or failure. If you're trying to sell a "me too" product, your gonna get wiped out. Think in terms of a niche product. Focus on helping a group of people not targeted already by guys in the space. Think about helping Carpenters get customers online. Think about helping Reiki therapists how to get clients online. Think about teaching disabled people (who otherwise can't get a normal job) make money online. I hope this helps.

I think that you are all over the place with your thoughts based on the threads you've started in the last month. That's natural in the beginning.

But at some point you need to make a decision and stick to it while adjusting and improving as you go along.

You bought a domain name that seems suited for certain content, right?

Why not stick with that long enough to learn the ropes - the basics of online marketing? Instead of jumping from this idea to the next and possibly buying a bunch of unnecessary products or domain names - just start with what you have where you are at.

You could learn a ton (whether you make money or not) just by developing the site you have now. As you develop it and learn new skills, you'll better be able to figure out what it is you want to do when you grow up.

What I mean by that last statement is that I and many, many people have been guilty of having let's say a computer site and we get bored with the computer site so we jump ship to a diet site because that's more exciting and we can make more money. Then we get bogged down on the diet site and we start to get excited about a money site because that seems easier. So now we have 3 domain names and 3 half finished products/blogs.

When we figure out we don't know anything about money we get an email talking about how people are crushing it with webinars and this one guy is doing it in the IT field. So now we take another look at our computer site and on and on and on.

See how this turns into a cycle of total frustration, total lack of progress, and desperation (for many)?

Save some time by making a decision on what you want to do, make a plan on how you are going to do it, then start it. And then stick to it long enough to know whether your initial decision was correct or not.

    Mark

The Make Money Online niche is easy if you already know how to make money online - it's impossible if you don't. That's the catch.

If you've never made money online, i wouldn't start in the "how to make money online" niche. Sell something like "how to grow red roses in your back yard" or something like that. Just go for the easy cash first and become stable in life. Sell on ebay or something to get that paper up. Then if you want to become a world-renowned "guru" in the MMO niche... do as you please. I wouldn't start in this niche though if you've never made money in it. Very frustrating.
