There are lots of unscrupulous people leveraging on people's death for making money. In fact, there are so many other money making opportunities.

Any good webserver would be scanning for DoS(Denial of Service) attacks. Suddenly getting hit by a few million requests definitely looks like that kind of attack and would trigger a minor of at least a few servers.

I'm starting to get a little tired hearing what Google thinks is good or bad. I mean one time they marked every search result as a suspicious link. Come on already! All of the automated analysis needs to be paired up with human beings who have some common sense.

its kinda funny that Google wouldn't be expecting a ton of searches for Michael Jackson after his death. apparently they don't really keep up with the news.

One mainstream news report was that Google was inaccessible for some for a short time because of the surge.
