Buying Websites on Flippa & Then Reselling them on Flippa

Does anybody have some pointers on buying websites on flippa and then reselling them on flippa? I would like to apply the 'real estate flipping' technique to a purchased site from flippa by buying one that has value and then reselling it on flippa. I would imagine that there are people on there lying about how much their sites have generated. To prevent this from happening, how do you check to see if a site is really living up to the income claims?

To verify you can request Skype share screen sessions, that should reveal most scams.

Good prices come with a reputation, if you solely depend on Flippa traffic you might not get what you expect, look at AdsenseFlippers, they have a good reputation and indirectly they drive traffic from their own site to Flippa. This helps increase the amount of bids.

Some other things to look for is to see if a site has potential, you can't expect to buy and sell for more, you must do something with the site, whether that is conversion optimization (become an expert in that first) or whether there is plenty of grow possible in terms of traffic, eg if a site ranks for some interesting keywords on the bottom or half page one then you can quickly drive them to the top, (become an expert in expired domains buying to increase rankings).

See you need a bit of knowledge on different fronts to turn it into a succes.

I'm not sure if this still applies, but if you relist a site people will be able to see that in your listing and see for how much you bought the site.

That isn't too big of a problem if you can build up the site for a couple of months and then resell it. But imo you might as well build up a site from scratch. (unless you have some money to invest in well established sites ofcourse).

Flipping sites is definately a good business model, but you need to make sure if you buy an established it's actually worht the price. Also make sure to use escrow for large payments.

I've never liked using Flippa. I've been away from WF for a bit, so if that offends anyone, apologies.

I do a lot of domain and website selling. The best business, in my experience, comes from contacting potential leads directly.

I'll give you one of my latest experiences...

I message a dozen potential leads sourced from organic search and Adwords on the right. The email went something like this:

    Hello,

I found your site while checking on the ranking of my own site this morning. I rank #1 for the term "blah blah blah." One of my business methods is to slowly rank my large portfolio of domains and sell off the occasional one and use the rest for Adsense or affiliate offers. This domain is one that I am selling and today I'm contacting yourself, because I notice your primary keyword is "blah blah blah", as well as 2 dozen of your competitors. The price is $500, but if you would like to make an offer, I would be happy to hear from you.

    Kind regards,

    Me

Over the next 3 or 4 hours, I get an offer for $100 (idiot), one for $500, and one for $1,000. The $1,000 offer came from a guy who has no intention of actually using the site, but as he explains, doesn't want his competitors getting it. Moral of the story is this: direct contact and using the "competitor" approach works for me day in and day out. Well, not strictly true. I don't make sales ever day, but I do with regularity across the week.

Hope this helps. Might be a different approach you could try as well as Flippa.
