How to Promote New Gig on Fiverr

Hi Everyone!

I am new to Fiverr and just started my first gig. I am wondering if others have had previous experience with building a following on the site and if anyone has advice on how to best promote your service. I am offering a transcription service that converts an image of a recipe (say from your favorite cookbook) into a format-friendly text version that can be shared and stored on your computer for easy access. I believe this is something that could be beneficial for someone who needs a portable recipe catalog rather than digging through countless cookbooks just to find your favorites. I will covert up to three recipes from image to text.

Here is the link to the page for reference: transcribe your favorite RECIPES from image to text - fiverr

I know that social media is of course a good way to promote, but I do not necessarily want to link this "side-project" to my real Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. Is there another way to promote without directly linking the promotion to my personal profiles? Thank you all very much for your insight!

    Use an alias/pen-name/pseudonym.

I do majority of my promotions under alias's - rather than Gh0zt which is more of an affectionate title

Think - who would want your services - then: get in front of them and make a song and dance - if they like you, they will buy you.

    Hope I answered your question,
    Peace,
    Gh0zt.

Use the same channels that you would for any promotional platform.

What you want is an accessible pot of target leads:

    - Email List
    - Facebook Page / Group
    - Twitter
    - G+ Profile / Community / Page
    - Forums

You need to build up your following in the above places, as well as others.

    Hi ,
    do something unique in gig
+ choose the best category and subcategory , it's important
+ choose the best tags. + the good title and descption be more clarify
+ tell your friend to do an order in your gig and write a best review + 5 stars. as you had delevry a quality work to him.

about the last one , algorythme of fiverr when they see as you have an order and you have a great review , they bost you at the top in recommended gigs ( each category have recomended gig)
and then you still have lot of order . it's depend to your niche.

if you still don't have any order for more one month ( I don't hope that ) then change your niche , the same gig that have one order of your friend change it to another niche ( domain) .
as I told you the one order + good review they boost your gig to top.

    That I did me too
    Best Regards

Maybe it would seem unconventional, but you might have some success commenting on recipe and cooking related blogs. Just so long as you offer the best quality comments relating to the post you are commenting on, the blogger should welcome your contribution. After all, who would be a better customer for your service, than someone who already enjoys cooking and recipes? The key is to find these people and go where they are online.

    Here's a few I recommend

1.) Forum Posting and put a link of your gig on your signature
    2.) Facebook Group
3.) Directly contact some people you know that might need the service
    4.) Youtube
5.) Ask referrals from your past customers.

Just make sure you don't end up sounding like a spam.

The best way to get traffic is to get in Fiverr search results. Is anyone searching for this service? Is there any demand for it or is it something you thought was a good idea without any research?

If there is demand then the best thing you can do is optimize your page for Fiverr search.

If there is no demand then you are wasting your time.

Why don't you offer services where you can actually make some decent money? The amount of work to get customers is going to be the same so you might as well get paid a decent wage.

Include a video in your gig I have heard this does wonders. Also try wearing a bright colored shirt or hat so the pic of you vid pops out in the search results and maybe have a Fiverr banner behind you it shows more credibility I would think, I can't prove any of this but it's my thinking.

On most really successful gigs that I visit on Fiverr, there is a video and ample photos/testimonials. In such a competitive marketplace as Fiverr, you have to go that extra mile to prove you are worth choosing over the competition. Though in this situation, with such a rare, unique service, maybe the biggest challenge will be finding people who actually want this done and are willing to pay for it.

Fiverr SEO I guess. Outside promotion doesn't work to well. The most popular gigs on Fiverr are gigs that are high in demand, so create gigs that people actually want or need.

This technique requires that you work for FREE; but if I was promoting a Fiverr Gig, this is what I would.

First off, I feel that your services is too specific - I would try to make it a little more general as to appeal to wider variety of people.

    1. I would put on a signature link advertising FREE Fiverr Services - mention that all you want in return is an excellent feedback rating; you'll immediately refund the money upon payment.

    2. After you do a specific amount of gigs, you should should get excellent feedback and from that point - everything takes care of itself.

There's really no such thing as something for nothing - in order to achieve more, you have to be willing to sacrifice.

I think facebook group is the best way to promote fiverr gigs. You can get lots of buyer from facebook. Even you can try LinkedIn because all the people are here business minded.

    Thank you

I would say your biggest problem is that you take THREE DAYS to respond to messages. Please try to get it down to one hour - yes one... Also, list it as an express gig. Best of luck to you.

I don't wanna open new thread for my question because I think that this is also relevant for the OPs topic.

Am I allowed to contact my competition's buyers on Fiverr and offer them my gigs?
I find them in the gig reviews of my competitors... will Fiverr ban my account for this or just give me some warning?

Well so long as they don't say anything to anyone then Fiverr will be none the wiser. With that being said though it may violate TOS.

Have multiple gigs, even if they are basically the same. I have made a few thousand on Fiverr, and I have yet to understand how they put my gigs up. But they fluctuate. Some weeks I get 10 orders of all one gig, the next week none, the next week 10 of another. They play games. So if you only have one gig, your chances of getting it seen are low. So just make a bunch of gigs and hope one of them hits the top pages so people can see it and buy it.

Also you MUST have a video. And I don't know if it matters, but Fiverr has been big on asking you to promote your gigs, so I always do that too. Just to a crap Twitter account I have with random ass followers. But Fiverr weights stuff like that, so if they want you to jump through hoops, you have to.

    Good luck!

How well have you identified your target audience? Once you find out who is most likely to buy your service, then you can better target that person. Once you know your target audience you'll know where they hang out online (such as which forums to post on) and what Facebook groups they will be in.

I was on Fiverr for a year, offering 3 gigs in the singing and songwriting niche. I also dabbled with being a testimonial actress. I made several thousand, but nothing to write home about. In the end, I decided my voice was worth more than what I was making. Average gig paid me about $50-$75, but for what they were getting in return for that change? I must have been nuts.

      Here are a few tips:

      1. Make sure there is a demand for what you supply. If nobody sees your service as valuable...well, you know the rest.
      2. Fiverr loves video. Shoot a video and talk real nice about how great Fiver is along with your gig you're providing. Don't forget your call to action. Make potential clients feel like they REALLY need to buy your gig.
      3. Check your competition and see what keywords are being used by the highest rated and popular gigs in your niche. Title your gig accordingly, and put them in your description and tags (if they still use the tags).
      4. Advertise your gig(s) on social media (I was incognito. I never advertised because I didn't want people to know I was on Fiverr).

Good luck. It's a great site, but it burned me out.

Making a personal connection between yourself and the person who might buy the service is an essential part of selling on Fiverr or any other site. And, a video goes a long way toward doing that. If they see you are a real person and can identify with you on a personal level, you'll break out beyond the cold/heartless competition that is delivering mass quantities of cheap services.
