There have been a few threads recently regarding ungrateful people and the deterioration of quality on the WF.

Now we have reached the nadir.

Sadly, I notice this more and more.

If you question people's "facts" you are a trouble maker or a troll. It doesn't matter if your reply is in-depth, logical and full of factual evidence.

THIS IS A FORUM!!

Forums are where you DISCUSS things and learn HOW to improve your writing and thinking skills by engaging with some brilliant minds.

If you make a post that sucks or is full of logical holes you have two choices:

1. Get defensive, whine/shout/stamp your foot and take your ball home.

2. Learn from it and become a better person.

One little tip to avoid your "facts" being ripped to shreds.

Use the words "may" or "could" more often. Instead of stating something as a universal truth based on one tiny observation, modify it with "may" or "could", or even turn it into a question.

So,

"Article marketing doesn't work!"

becomes

"I think I may be doing article marketing the wrong way"

or

"Am I doing article marketing the right way?"

The first version might get you more eyeballs but ask yourself which one will get you more help from article experts like Steven W, Allen Graves, TimG and Dean Shainin.

  Actually I might not always agree with Roger and vice versa...but I like reading his opinions and he doesn't just make his opinion a 1 liner. Always explains why he sees things a certain way. which is lot more valuable then a vast majority of posts you read in any forum.

  I don't get why people seem to take such negative perspectives on these things.
  
  If someone takes the time to post a well thought-out and detailed response - thank you should be the reply.
  
  I ignore this stuff so I don't even see it most of the time, but I can imagine why long standing members would get ticked off by it.

Martin,

Someone asked me a while back who I'd consider to be a good potential moderator for a place like this. You and Roger were the first two I suggested.

Not just "close." The very first two. By name.

I don't know that either of you has that official capacity here at the moment, but I'd consider it a smart move by any forum admin if you did. As far as I'm concerned, you both deserve Old Boy Network badges here.

I have no cmment on kanus, other than to say that I agree with your assessment of the importance of debate as part of discussion.

I would like to publicly encourage everyone here to "thank" both you and Roger for the regular and significant contributions you both make to this forum. They've been invaluable to me over the past few years.

been far inferior to what we've been used to

That's why I'm delighted to see that Roger has

I have seen Roger get accused of negatively a few times. Personally, I don't understand it. He just voicing his own opinions which I don't think is in a negative manner. Most of the time he makes good points until he starts making fun of me. That is when I cry to Admin about his negativity.

I do enjoy most of his posts even though I need cliff notes on some of them. I wish he would post some more pictures and not so many words. Even hand drawings would suffice until we can get him some clipart or more emoticons.

Going back to the OP in this brilliant thread......

I know that there is a hardcore of warriors that do the business - day in day out.
I know that these amazing people help out at the drop of a hat.
I have been the grateful recipient of help and advice from many of these people including ExRat.

One day I hope to fully join their ranks

I have to say that I do not fret or worry about the riff raff that clutter this forum from time to time because the core here is of such high quality and value.

Look, here's the real deal about genuine, certified trolls who are eligible to lease space under selected bridges -- whether for residential or business (read: goat-harassing) purposes: Ya gotta be Norwegian.

As for Simon Cowell, well he's successful which is good, but apart from that..:rolleyes:..I don't know much about Quaid, but he aint the ugliest bloke I've ever seen.
