Have 2 "redundant" websites. What is the best way to get them generating an income?

Hello all,

I am hoping to get some advice please >

I own two ecommerce websites for particular products (lets say 1 apples, 2 oranges) and I used to sell these products quite regularly (sales every couple of days) but the last 6 months or so the sales have dwindled to nothing on both sites. (granted, they have not been updated in this time)

My question is, what would be the best use for these sites now, and what would be the cheapest and quickest way to get them generating money again?

What were you doing to generate sales before?

Marketing is really us a matter of putting the right offer in front of the right audience. PPC work great for ecommerce stores

Did they stop generating sales because you stopped updating them or because the niche has died down?

If the former... update them. If the niche has died down it'll be a bit more work.

Basically just do what you used to do to generate sales. Add more content, work on SEO some more, setup social media around it - if you hadn't done that previously.

Overall I think we need more info on what exactly has changed since you used to generate money.

If you say it's already generating income before. My guess is it got hit by Google SEO and it stopped getting traffic from it. (This is just an assumption since you didn't provide details)

You can troubleshoot it yourself and see what went wrong.

1.) Check how much traffic you are getting, did it dropped after the 6 months?
2.) Are the Affiliate you are using still active?
3.) How long have you been using the Affiliate Site and getting money, I highly doubt that the niche suddenly died quickly though.

My guess is it's only 1 - 2. A few tweaks and you'll generate money again.

If it's traffic problem. Post new content and share them on you different social medias. You can also add an optin form to your website so you can bring back custom whenever you got new contents.

If it's' affiliate problem you simply need to choose another one. There are a lot of ways to monetize website such as CPA, Affiliate, Adsense and more..

  • Get some banner ads on your site and also rank your site on the first pages of google for specific profitable keywords.

Thank you all for your comments!

"What were you doing to generate sales before?"

    - I was getting sales from organic google searches. Site 1 is more of a niche product, site 2 is a fruit supplement that has grown more popular over the years (I have owned it since 2008) and with it has came more sellers, more competition, bigger budgets, so I have slowly slipped back to page 5 on Goog. (I used to be top spot page 1!)

"Did they stop generating sales because you stopped updating them or because the niche has died down?"

    - 1 there is not much demand for it, (capsule form) but sells a lot of the liquid form. 2, the demand has grown, but I have not updated.

"My guess is it got hit by Google SEO and it stopped getting traffic from it."

    - Maybe this. No updates, and stopped paying my $10 a month adwords on it.
    (popular, site 2)

    - No analytics installed in one site, the other still gets some traffic (500 month)
    - No affiliates used on any site. No adsense, nothing barr my own products.
    - No affiliates.

"Get some banner ads on your site"

    - Is it worth spending money getting the site back on to page 1 of google just to sell ads on it?
I was only getting about 700 visitors per month when popular.
How much money could I realistically make if I get it back up to 700 visitors a month from ads?
