I have $1200 to spend a month developing an Authority Site - What do I do?

14 replies
Hey guys,

I'm a web developer and designer who is starting to get involved in blogging.

My dad wants me to create a website to promote his business opportunity, which is meant to be an authority in the "network marketing" niche.

I have $1200 to spend every month on producing content and promoting it.

What do you guys advise I do?

- How often should I publish? I'm thinking daily

- Where should I find writers and how much should I pay?

- How can I promote my content?

I want to use this money most effectively to develop it up as quick as possible.

It's meant to be a blog that provides genuine value and help to it's readers, tries to get email subscribers and then over time tells them about the business opportunity.

Priority is providing great content and value.

Blog is about:
- Network Marketing
- Personal Development
- Entrepreneurship

What is the best way I can leverage this money to build up very quickly?

Thanks!

    Find out what network marketers want and give it to them. One thing I KNOW they want is leads. Leads, leads and more leads. I'd go looking for a good, wholesale lead source and offer leads. Build your whole site around that. If you can get fresh leads wholesale and sell them at a reasonable price you'll do really well. The beautiful thing about selling leads is you can sell them over and over (within reasonable limits). Good luck.

    You have a bit of a budget there so I would try to cut the cost for content and go with paid advertising

      Hey,

      Thanks for your reply.

      I want to build a proper content site though as that paves the path for developing a platform on which I could sell products such as ebooks and courses.

      Also I want to establish an organic SEO website so that I don't always have to pay for traffic.

      Also adwords is really annoying to deal with, their policies are notorious for income generation sites. If I come back with a great SEO loads of content site they will be more soft.

      Plus adwords is like a job:
      - The second you stop working the second you stop getting paid. With adwords the second you stop paying the second you stop getting traffic

      - With residual income you continue to get paid even when you stop. Same with SEO, your previous articles continue to get traffic without paying for anything.

    if you have money it would be much bette to setup a simple sales funnel and drive traffic directly to it. All you need is a simple lead capture page a thank you page and then to follow up and email your list everyday.

    I have a funnel that promotes a network marketing style biz opp and it converts 9% of visitors right away on cold traffic, and I set it up in a few hours.

      head on over to linked in and join. They have many network marketing groups that you can join and see what all the action is about. Start by contributing and then throw in a few offers slowly. Good Luck.

      Hey,

      Thanks for your reply.

      How would you advise I drive traffic to it though?

      I have had issues with Adwords as they are difficult to get to accept income generation sites.

      I've made some awesome commercials but they were being long about everything.

      Please bear in mind that my opportunity is UK only so I can't use most things like solo ads.

      (The opportunity on my blog site will only show up to people in the UK. Non UK people will be monetised in other ways)

      Thanks!

        Once you have your lead capture page and sales funnel all set up, you can test the things below to drive traffic to your lead capture page...

        *** Identify laterally relevant business / marketing sites / blogs that get good relevant UK / London traffic, and directly relevant social communities like Web forums and Facebook / LinkedIn groups with decent UK / London membership bases. Contact them and strike mutually beneficial trial ad banner / advertorial placement deals with them;

        *** Go to the websites of your top 10 competitors in the UK / London network marketing / MLM industry. Study their websites (front panel and source code) to get a list of their target keywords. Verify the exact match UK / London local Google search traffic estimates of these keywords via the Google Adwords Keyword Planner. Prune your list of exact match keywords accordingly. Enter each exact match keyword in Google and list down the top 10 or so ranking pages for each of those keywords. Determine if any of those top ranking sites / blogs / social communities would be interested in striking mutually beneficial trial ad banner / advertorial placement deals with you;

        *** Develop good onsite content around your target local group's needs that are related to those exact match keywords. Share those onsite content pages in your Facebook page with a landing tab set to show your lead capture copy and link. Promote your shared posts across your target UK / London Facebook users via Facebook's "Boost Post" feature;

        Find out if Facebook and Bing and LinkedIn and Twitter among other relevant advertising platforms accept ads for similar offers. Test out trial ad campaigns with these platforms; and

        Hire a PR consulting company with expertise in developing and managing UK / London PR campaigns across directly and laterally relevant industries. Ask them to develop and execute a PR campaign for your business, website and lead capture product...

    You can get people to ghost write for you on iwriter or other freelance platforms.
    With that kind of budget you can have 1 post a day and still have enough to get some paid traffic going on.

    Make sure to create an email list. build your email marketing list and you can also promote offers there.

        You can sort them by the quality of the writers. They will also be ranked in stars, the higher the stars the better.

        Also you can read their submission before confirming. If you don't like the copy, you can either ask for it to be re-written or get another writer to write it with no additional cost

    Is focus less on what it's niches is and when/how to things aside until you have solid plan to drive traffic and you have a solid way to make money: ad clicks, video plays, retargeting.

  • Definitely publish content asap, however focus 80% of your effort promoting. The 80/20 rule.

    I say: focus more on traffic. Writers will come, and actually write for FREE, if you can get the links back. So focus on building up traffic and subscriptions and writers will come.

    Recommended: Facebook ads. (Very targeted and can be cheap once you split test)

    Hope this helps

    You might want to spend a little more time investigating the "cost" of SEO.

    Also adwords is really annoying to deal with, their policies are notorious for income generation sites. If I come back with a great SEO loads of content site they will be more soft.

    Until one small algo change and..."I woke up this morning and..."

    SEO is about the shakiest ground you can try to build a business on. Forces beyond your control can nuke your traffic instantly, without warning or explanation. There are so many better ways.
