What's On Your Business Card?

I was talking to someone about article marketing, social bookmarking etc for them and they asked for my business card. So far I have sourced all my business via the internet sending links to my work.

Am wondering what do you have on your card to describe you and what you do?

Thanks!

Nothing. I just have the name of my company, and my own name and contact info.

I personally don't have a business card. Imagine if I would have to go and contact people on the street and give them my card. I love the idea of doing everything online.

        And RIGHT.

My cards aren't die-cut foil-stamped pop-up, but they are embossed and printed on a signature color of 120# blue card stock. They do fit in your business card case, because I meet a lot of people at events - and they have nowhere else to put it.

What are you going to do, walk around carrying it? Of course not. You need one hand to shake, and one to hold your drink. If you have nowhere to put my card, you have to choose what you're going to drop so you can still glad-hand the next guy, and trust me - NOBODY is giving up the drink.

I have a large empty area on the lower right of my business card, where I can jot notes. Usually, I give someone my card so they can contact me ABOUT something, so I scribble down some quick notes and maybe a tentative price quote. Then it feels like an unfinished conversation, and they're more likely to call me.

My business card is not for IM but for my day job. It has my name, title, email address, phone number, and business name with the logo - just an ordinary usual business card

Your business card should look professional and reflect what you want to convey about yourself and your business.
They are not as critical for those of us who work online, but when you do have a F2F meeting, you better have some nice cards ready.
Don't skimp and try to print and cut them out yourself or such nonsense. If you make the right impression on an important client just once, the expense of good business cards will more than repay itself (and you'll probably have 200+ more cards left!)
Try Vistaprint.com. They have good templates and a fully web-based graphics editing system that you can use to create a credible card that represents you well.

Check with a local printer too. By the time you figure in the base price plus all the upcharges plus the shipping and rush shipping if you don't want to wait a month for your cards, many times you can probably get a better deal from a local printer.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

I have an interesting full color card that these guys did for me: Full Colour Business Cards

They are inexpensive - about $125 for 1,000 cards.
