Help me brainstorm

I'm looking to start my GF on a project. She likes celebrities and women's fashion. Two subjects I know NOTHING about. I'm assuming these are very competitive markets.

My general thought is to get her a nice domain and hand her a blog. Then work on the usual traffic generation methods.

If you have any advice I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

    Ask her. She probably knows more than you are. ask other girls from here or any forums or social media.

    I love these type of threads.

    I'll throw my first suggestion into the mix.

    Pinterest > Fashion Site > Affiliate Site.

    That's a stable model and she'd probably have a blast.

    Edit: I should probably add that Pinterest won't be your only source of traffic (and I'm guessing you know this) but it's a good current model that I know is working well.

        I wish I knew. Wracking my brains, but I don't think I know anything about the celebrity niche. But you're right to think out of the box and spin the model. Pinterest to fashion money site is being used a lot; because as you know, the demographics on Pinterest are massively skewed to the ladies. Hmmmm . . . Enjoying this. (Still thinking LOL) Well . . . the model is solid, but yes . . . needs a little twist. Going to think while I have my coffee and come back if I get anything useful.

          Those are excellent markets to investigate. People can't get enough of it, it's amazing.

          They're on every morning, daytime and evening show, often times repeating itself, but people don't care. Plus, celebrity and fashion sites are some of the most popular and fastest growing.

          They can also contain some the most rabid loyal followers. Good thing your G.F likes them, it make take intensive research to find that magical sweet spot.

          If your G.F can zero in on a frustration, problem or unmet need of the celebrity reading or fashion public you're golden. That's the trick. Let the research begin. Good Luck.

            I use Pinterest for different niches. In your situation, I'd keep the above advice in mind, the brilliant advice in mind, and investigate Pinterest. See what others are doing in this general area and see where it leads you.

      Pinterest is very good for fashion and celebrity blogs. Also, We Heart it is another excellent photo sharing site you will want to check out and add to your list of places to pin your photos.

    You can try come with something more interesting and less competitive related to these two topics. Try see what competitors are related websites doing and gather information about these two markets before developing the website. Simply, start doing a good research.

    Check out stealherstyle.net. theres a lot of work in these markets but with some planning you can map out a good marketing diary and drive traffic to affiliate sites whilst building a loyal following.

      yup i agree, smartest thing I have read, its about building and nurturing a list.

      If I did not do that online, I would make about $5 a day. With a list, doing about $400 to $500 a day.

      its a big more complicated than saying, OK THE MONEY IS IN THE LIST< but it is true, with a list your possibilities are pretty much endless.

    I would definitely utilize Pinterest for traffic.

    And get videos of celebrities talking about the fashion trends on the blog. That saves time and keeps people on the site longer.

I can't offer you the ins and outs, I'm afraid, because I don't do it. I've seen others using this model, though. It might be something she'd enjoy!

      I have a friend who makes a living off Etsy. She makes custom jewelry. Very nice stuff. My GF is not crafty so that isn't going to work, but for anyone reading this I agree with GRM that Etsy is awesome. I thought about buying shit from China and hawking it via Etsy, but they monitor that fairly rigidly. Even people with assistants can come under scrutiny.
