Where is the traffic coming from (Flippa Sites for Sale)

Hey All -

I've been looking at some site on Flippa, and see a common business model where the sites for sale are selling services that are very easy and inexpensive to outsource. Examples: Backlinks, Facebook Likes, Social media shares, twitter followers etc..

I get that part, the part I'm struggling with is where are they getting the targeted traffic? Many of these sites are not very old, and seem able to get very targeted traffic (and revenue). I do know it is paid traffic, but most of them claim under $200 / month on "traffic sources" - which seems amazing to be based on the revenue they are able to generate from the traffic.

I'm sure there are some scams out there, but I have done screen sharing with a few sellers and have validated transactions. (but not traffic spend - none of them want to share their sources or actual advertising costs)

If anyone can recommend a WSO or product that may point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it. Or if you have any thoughts on how they may be getting traffic like this, I'd love to know.

Thanks!
-Ed

A lot of times these sites will do solo ads to get traffic and buyers. They will also sometimes do a WSO or something similar. Paid traffic works fast if you know what you are doing.

I talked to a guy who resold video creation and getting those videos ranked. He would create a website and offering these services and then buy the services from fiverr.com. He did solo ads to get sales and traffic. He wouldn't give me his source, but I understand he would just talk to IM solo ad vendors that had sold video type products.

There are A LOT!!! of scams out there. Traffic and revenue is faked on a massive scale on Flippa. Use common sense before buying any site there, which is something I know you have, since you are questioning it.

There is a lot of scams on Flippa for these types of websites that claim high profits. You best bet is to look for established sellers on Flippa with positive feedback to avoid these scams. I remember a scammer on Flippa with multiple sites for sale that were making $5000 - $6000 a month with very little money spent. A couple of months later he was banned from Flippa.

This is my latest experience with Flippa scam: My "yet-not-so-experienced" business-partner bought website with not verified Google Adsense and Analytics data. It showed out that it was PBN site built on expired domain. All traffic and Adsense clicks came from BOTs.

Whole case is described here: Website intelligence: How to avoid scams on Flippa? | Jasom Dotnet

Flippa agree to cancel sale and our 5.5k account wasn't damaged but the most surprising moment of dispute was their answer from customer service:

Dispute resolved automatically in buyer's favor due to bold traffic claims with no proof.
They re-listed that site again between regular auctions (provisions, provisions...).
