marketing an iOS game

I have a slick idea for an iphone/ipad game and am in the process of getting it developed. Could you please share ideas as to how i can get the most number of people to download it and rank it on the apple charts.... or any other advice to grow my base.... secondly, whats the best way to monotize such apps?... CPM based earnings or a paid version?

    Well start with ASO which is app store optimization techniques. There are courses on that on the net and in udemy. Other key things are the icon and screen shots make them high quality and a nice description. Also consider promoting them on Instagram as people use Instagram on their smartphones so the app store or google play is just a tap away and makes it easy for people to get an app. Common sense says getting people to go from their laptop where they see your ad to their smartphone may lower conversions. So think mobile marketing. I have a few game apps and I monetize them with admob and revmob. You can also promote your app on peoples smartphones with revmob as an advertiser and I'm sure their are many other places you could use.

      which do you think is better.. admob or revmob? could you give approx earnings?.. so lets say if you got 1000 installs, how much do you earn from it?

    To go on from what Mike has said, Facebook, other social media platforms would be a prime place to start up a pay per download campaign. Depending on the success of the App you can never rule out media marketing either. Also as Mike said in-app marketing in other games is used a lot. Also features within your own app which rewards the current user points, gems, what ever you want for sharing it.

    Just a few thoughts which come to mind.

    Oh, how about trying to make a video of the game and make it go viral (Hard I know but it is a possibility).
