What is a Term that Describes Squidoo and Medium?

It's not really blog posting when you post to Squidoo or Medium. It's not guest posting either. Gotta be another name for it. Any idea what word or phrase describes these kind of system?

They're generally referred to as "Web 2.0 sites", though that's also a term that different people use with rather varying meanings (which can lead to quite a bit of talking at cross-purposes in forums).

Squidoo is a very good example and illustration of why it's so very unwise to depend on such facilities rather than owning and being in control of as much of the "virtual real estate" of one's business as possible. It's got into terrible trouble, and has just been taken over by HubPages (who also may well not last for ever). Some of the reasons were predictable and apparent quite a long time ago: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post8109462

Link spammers also refer to them as parasites because you could leach pagerank through them.

The real definition of parasite dates back to Brad's 2008 post on the now defunct WPBH. Ignore the current 're-imagining' which is little else than what people were doing with them in 2009 with SENuke, with a new sales pitch of course.

A term that describes Squidoo? Dead.

    Aside from that, Web 2.0s.

haa, yeah, "dead" I suppose for squidoo, expecially with the takeover from hubpages (didn't hear about that) but Medium seems to be picking up some visibility. I think it was started by the guy that developed wordpress but not sure on that. I was thinking web 2.0 too but I guess I think of more like blogger blogs and ning fit that cliche. Guess you're right though, it's all in the same group.
