A question for those experienced in specifically affiliate marketing. I was wondering if you have a seperate domain for each niche that you promote, or if you use one general main domain, and then make subdomains for each niche? |

Seperate domains are best. $8 is nothing when you consider the possible return on investment |

I use different domains (in fact I've got so many sometimes it's hard to keep track of them all). I also use blogger blogs, hubpages, squidoo lens and so forth. And sometimes I direct link from articles as well. However I'm not sure it really matters. Do whatever works best for you. Test a few things to find out which you enjoy doing more and makes you the most money. HTH Tracey |

Sites like ezinearticles won't let you link to a sub domain that is forwarded with your affiliate link either. If you were planning on using any sort of article marketing you would want to register a different domain for each niche. There is also the factor of perception of quality .. A unique .com seems more legit and trustworthy |

Hello, I usually use one domain for each product I promote but I recentely got a bunch of videos that promote clickbank products and I would have to buy many domains to use them all so I now use one domain with subfolders for each different product since I am promoting 150 different products. So you can imagine how much 150 domains would cost. For these 150 products I have bought just one domain and now make subfolders with a php redirect to forward people to my affiliate link. Here is the code I use in my sub folder to redirect: *************** *************** <?php header("HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently"); header("Location: your-affiliate-link-here"); exit(); ?> *************** *************** Just copy the code without the asterisks to notepad and add your affiliate link and then save it as index.php and upload it to your subfolder. This should work well for you. It is ecspecially useful if you are going to be promoting lots of products. Mike |

I use different domains for each of the products I promote, and link them together to increase their pageranks .

Thanks everyone else for your helpful posts. I thought buying new domains for each niche was probably the best way to go. I actually enjoy building websites, so I was going to make a comparison site for each niche. | |

Dedicated no doubt.. for sure.. no questions asked.. settled. If your interested in 5-10 domains and are worrying about potential costs.. get hostgator or godaddy deluxe and bolt all your domains on the one hosting. Also if you thing $8 a pop for domain is a little steep.. get an .info.. 99c at godaddy.. and u bolt it on a delux domain. That 99c per website.. can't be easier or cheaper.. Will |

| Separate domains is the way to go. Be careful when using anything other than .com...most people automatically assume .com when typing in web addresses.

I've heard that some people are successful using .info but I just can't get my head around that. I'd rather use .com even if it costs more.

the .info sounds interesting considering the cost and depending on the number of domains you might need. I guess it would also be easier to get the name you want also. I would guess that most people get to the site via links or search engines so maybe the fact that most people assume .com doesnt matter. I would like to hear if others are having success with this.

Hi Use seperate domains for professionalism. If the domain name is unique, you gain more trust and have more clickthorughs. Ive noticed this when i tested for a while. Nicholas |

I do something different than either option. I pretty much just us IM to promote my own music on my personal site. I buy various .info domains and redirect them to my main site. This works well for places like Yahoo Answers since they have a raw link checker that looks for overposted URLs. |

| Same here. Your very first affiliate sale of something is going to make up the difference several times over, anyway. I just can't be bothered assessing all the arguments and deciding whether ".info" is worse than ".com" for the sake of about $5 difference. It's easier just to use a ".com" and forget about it.
